Principal's Note

What a wonderful first week we had.  I enjoyed meeting so many of you and especially loved seeing all the smiling students as they arrived on campus. Thank you for making me feel so welcome.  St. John Bosco is a wonderful community.  I am looking forward to a faith-filled and fun year.

Please take a moment to read through this week's edition of the BITE.  It is full of information!

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Dr. Marie Axman

School News

Security Gates

The north gate, by the Art room, is the new entrance for morning and afternoon ESP drop off and pick up.  After ringing the buzzer, ESP staff will unlock the gate for you to get on to campus.  The gate is on a timer and will automatically unlock in the morning at 7:30 - 7:45 am for entrance to campus and again at 3:05 - 3:20 (M-Th) and 1:00-1:15 (Fri)

After 7:45 am, students will need to enter through the front gate, so as to not disturb the older students who start class at 7:45.  During school hours, all visitors must enter through the front office, check in and receive a visitor pass.  When leaving campus, all visitors must check out at the front office.  Thank you for your cooperation as we keep our students and staff safe.

Rosary
We would like to welcome the SJB community to a rosary service every Friday at 7:50 am in the SJB Chapel.  We will begin with special intentions, a community lead rosary, and quiet prayer/reflection to follow.  We should finish in time to attend Mass with our children at St. Benedict.

Picture Day is Coming!

September 10, 11 and 12.  Individual and class pictures will be taken the same day. Mass uniforms will be worn by the students on your assigned picture day.

Morning Traffic on 48th Street

We have been informed by Horizon Community Learning Center that they were advised to change their traffic patterns due to construction on 50th Street.  Given the congestion observed, Horizon is changing their traffic patterns back to their prior plan which uses 50th Street.  We anticipate that this will eliminate much but perhaps not all of the congestion on 48th Street. Accordingly, you may want to allow extra time until the new school year is a bit more routine at both schools.

Shade Structure

Playground Shade Structure - What Happened?

The shade structure over the main playground was destroyed in the Great Storm of July 15, and the campus lost six trees and saw some damage to roofs, gates, and signs.  The shade structure is currently scheduled for replacement the week of September 23rd - we will inform you if this changes.  In the meantime hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen are always a good idea.

Order your PE shirts and shorts online

For your convenience, PE t-shirts and shorts are now available online at  www.sjbstore.com.  Orders will be delivered to the school on the Monday following the order.  PE shorts are required for students on their scheduled PE day. PE t-shirts are optional with the standard SJB polo being the alternative. T-shirts are $10 each, shorts are $15 each.

SJB Sports - In case you missed it

There will be one more sports sign up day, this Friday, August 30, 1:15pm to 3:00pm

Sports Registration - Please read as the process has changed.

To sign up for a sports team and obtain a roster card, please follow these four steps:

1. Review the online Mild Traumatic Brain Injury information sheet with your child.

2. Complete the Online Registration Form.

3. Complete the Sports Packet.

4. Submit all of the above documents on Friday in the MPR.

Please note, the biggest change to sports sign up is that the front office will no longer be accepting the packets or issuing roster cards.  Invoices are "auto pay" 15 days from the date of the invoice.
