Welcome back as we start a year of new beginnings! As your new principal, I am very excited to be a part of St. John Bosco Catholic School. Everyone has been so warm and caring. I know that we are going to have a wonderful and productive year.
I had the happy opportunity to meet many of you at the Ice Cream Social yesterday and I look forward to meeting and getting to know everyone.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Dr. Marie Axman

Campus Crisis Plan
The safety of our students is our number one priority. As a school community we want to assure you that St. John Bosco follows Diocesan policy and does have a crisis plan in place. Students and staff practice, on a regular basis, the procedures for lockdowns, reverse lockdowns, and fire drills. All of our staff and teachers are fully trained and prepared in the case of an emergency. As a school, we utilize Twitter (@911SJB) to communicate any emergency situation, followed by email. This week you will receive an email with details of a "Test Communication."
New Campus Security Systems To improve the safety and security of the campus and our students, SJB has embarked on the installation of additional fencing, security cameras, and door locking mechanisms at the Front Office and at the Art Gate. This will result in changes to enter/exit the front office (via intercom), to enter/exit the campus for ESP (formerly MAP) via the Art Gate both before and after school, and to enter/exit the campus for activities and meetings in the after-school hours. Stay tuned for additional, detailed information as we implement the new protocols. ESP -Extended School Day Program (formerly MAP) morning entrance will now be through the north gate by the art room. ESP personnel will buzz you onto campus and you will then proceed to the MPR to sign in your children. Please be patient as everyone learns this new system. |

Changes to handbook
There is a change to the school uniform policy of note for the upcoming school year. From the student handbook on page 10: "Black or white athletic shoes with one minimal contrasting trim color, logo no larger than a quarter or safe black dress shoes." Students may wear black athletic shoes for the upcoming school year. The complete uniform and dress code policy, including information on accessories, can be found in the Student Handbook available on the school website.

Campus Cleanup - Thank You Scouts and Paramount Landscape
Thank you to the Scouts of Pack 77 and Troop 77 for their annual service day to help ready the SJB campus for the new school year. This year's many tasks included organizing the outdoor tables, chairs and umbrellas, cleaning the Pre-K playground, clearing old gear from around the mobile-minis, and setting monuments to mark the football field for the upcoming CYAA flag football season. Thanks to all who volunteered! Thank you also to Paramount Landscape (parishioner) for their work in the aftermath of the "Big Storm of July 15" to remove and repair destroyed and damaged trees across the campus, and to replenish sand lost from the main playground area.
