The anticipation is over as Father Bob Binta has joined us as Parochial Administrator of the Parish and the school! Please extend a warm welcome when you see Father Bob!
We continue to prepare for the upcoming school year and are anxious to have the students and their families back at school! Painting, repairs, cleaning and other facilities work continues. Summer enrichment camps start next week. The MAP has been renamed to the Extended School-day Program or ESP. The term MAP at St. John Bosco is now reserved for the NWEA assessment MAP, known as the Measure of Academic Progress, utilized as an assessment tool to guide teaching and learning, for students in grades 3-8.
Safe Environment Training, Protecting God's Children for Adults, the foundation course, will be held in the school library on Monday, August 12th from 6 - 9 p.m. This course is required for all volunteers at the school to include adults administering service in an after school program. You cannot volunteer at the school without having completed the foundation course. You should bring contact information (addresses and phone numbers) to the course for 3 personal references. No one under the age of 18 is permitted during the session and there is no childcare provided. You can take the foundation course at any location in the Diocese of Phoenix. For more information on Safe Environment Training, please visit the Safe Environment Office.
If you have completed the foundation course, the Safe Environment training renewal video is now officially complete! The renewal video for the 2013/2014 academic year, "The Real and Virtual Worlds: Preventing Abuse" is now available online on the Safe Environment website. You can also register to take this course in person. Required renewal must be completed before volunteering on campus for the upcoming school year.
