Good Shepherd Sunday

This Sunday is Good Shepherd Sunday and a great time to thank our priests and pastors for serving as our guides and caring for each of us as lambs in the pasture.  We encourage you to send a note (or email) of appreciation to your pastor for the difference he has made in your life - spiritually, emotionally, or communally -- for you and your family.  Here are a few addresses for the local pastors:

St. Benedict:  Fr. Gary frgary@stbenedict.org

Holy Spirit:  Fr. Thomas:  tjhallsten@holyspirit-tempe-az.org

Corpus Christi:  Fr. Al Hoorman:corpus_christi@diocesephoenix.org

St. Andrew:  Fr. John Coleman,  frcoleman@diocesephoenix.org

St. Mary Magdalene:  Fr. Will Schmidt, frwill@stmarymag.org

If your Pastor is not listed, you can find him on the Dicoese of Phoenix website at www.diocesephoenix.org or Diocese of Tucson at www.diocesetucson.org

The students will make cards this week and we would like you to make sure each student has the opportunity to give them to their parish priests this weekend.  Please take your family to Mass this weekend (it will be a busy one with the Bosco, but still...) so the students can deliver them personally to their Shepherd (if you end up at a Mass without the pastor presiding, the students could put their card in the collection basket).  Thank you for taking this opportunity to show your appreciation!

Corpus Christi Calling Corpus Christi Families!
Fr. Hoorman has invited us to highlight our school during the Masses the weekend of April 20 and 21 for Pastor Appreciation weekend.  There will be pulpit announcements, bringing up the gifts, handing out bulletins, and a table outside with some giveaways and information.
For maximum impact, we would like all students attending Mass during Pastor Appreciation Sunday (Saturday too) to wear their uniform. Please sign up here to help at the Masses.

Congratulations and Thank You!
The St. John Bosco School Advisory Board would like to welcome our newest Board members.

Just a Reminder

Warmer weather means cover up to maintain modesty.  Regardless of your personal choice, when you are on campus, either to volunteer, attend a performance or party, or walking on campus to pick up your child, please dress modestly.  As the weather is quickly warming, and  our wardrobes change to summer attire, this is a good opportunity for a reminder.  We have several "loaner" sweaters in the office if needed.

Calendar for 2013-14

We have established the major dates for the calendar for the 2013-14 School Year. Please follow this link to find it on our website. The Event Calendar is not completely updated with these dates, but will be very shortly.

Funding Factory Recycling Program

We are participating in FundingFactory which has been supporting schools and nonprofit organizations since 1997 through its unique recycling program.. We collect empty cartridges, cell phones, small electronics, and laptops and send them to FundingFactory in exchange for our choice of technology and recreation products, or even cash. You can help us by dropping off empty ink and toner cartridges, cell phones, and small electronics in the collection box in the MPR.

If you know of any companies that are willing to participate, we can provide shipping boxes with prepaid mailing labels which they can fill and ship from their office. Not only are you helping the school, you are also recycling responsibly. For more information, please check out their website  fundingfactory.com. Thank you for your support.

Scrip News:
We have fewer than 20 summer movie passes available for purchase.  Each packet is $7 and includes tickets to 10 kid-friendly movies. The movies are shown each Friday morning at the Chandler Mall Harkins.  Stop by the Scrip office or send us an email to purchase them for you and your kids.

LongHorn Steakhouse is now open at the corner of 54th Street and Ray Rd. in Chandler.  You can use our Olive Garden scrip at this new restaurant!

An Epic Adventure Awaits!

June 17-21, 2013

At Kingdom Rock, your kids will participate in memorable Bible-learning activities, sing catchy songs, play teamwork-building games, make and dig into yummy treats, experience epic Bible adventures, collect Bible Memory Buddies to remind them to stand strong, and test out Sciency-Fun Gizmos they'll take home and play with all summer long. Plus, kids will learn to look for evidence of God all around them through something called God Sightings.

Family Camp-Out June 14th -16th

Registration is open for this year's summer camp out on Mt. Lemmon. This year's camp out will once again be at the  Whitetail Campground on Mt. Lemmon near Tucson Friday through Sunday.  Whitetail Campground is probably the most modern campground in the state with a large, lighted pavilion with electric outlets, large charcoal grills, excellent tent site platforms.  At 8,000 feet elevation, enjoy the cool, crisp mountain air.  No prior camping experience is necessary and there will be plenty of experienced campers on hand to help out any rookies.  The fee is $20 per family with a limit of 15 families.
