Leadership Transition - rest assured, even with changes, St. John Bosco will continue to excel!
Over the last week, a few people have expressed concerns over the stability of the school with the anticipation of both the Principal and Pastor being new. Rest assured, an excellent Catholic School such as St. John Bosco is solid in structure and community and will sustain a change at the highest level and continue to be the best school for your child.
St. John Bosco is a wonderful learning community and change in school and parish leadership is actually a normal event in the Church. The same thing happened seven years ago when both Father Gary and Mrs. Conner came on board in the same summer. Leadership change provides opportunity for "fresh" perspective and often enhances the sense of community and commitment from all stakeholders.
Elementary schools in the Diocese are relatively consistent in how things are done. Many of the policies, programs and school procedures are controlled in some respect from the Diocesan level and will continue from one year to the next. Curriculum direction and requirements are also governed from the Diocesan level.
There is considerable attention being given to the transition, both internally and externally, to make it successful. We have solid parent groups and committees - Advisory Board, Finance Committee, Liturgy, Facilities, Development and Technology, Dads' Club, Moms' Club and PTO that all support the leadership of the school and will help ensure the consistency of the student, staff and parent experience- academically, spiritually, and emotionally. Staff committees to include Liturgy and Discipline With Purpose (DWP) will also contribute to a smooth transition. Additionally, the Catholic Schools Office will extensively support the incoming principal as he or she assumes the duties of a successful principalship.
There is a wonderful front office team that has significant cross training to include Mrs. Silver, Mrs. Pasini, Mrs. Condon, Mrs. Abril, Mrs. Watson, Mrs. Harvey, Mr. Regalado, and Mrs. Haik. This team will work with the new principal and pastor beginning in July (or sooner, depending on the person). Mrs. Silver has already agreed to serve in school leadership again next year.
When it comes to any change, understandably, not knowing is the hardest part. Please know that the administration at the parish and school are here to serve you in this time of transition. Faith and trust in God as we journey through this holiest of all weeks and in this time of transition is what is important. For in Christ Jesus all things are made new and we are given the gift of new life.

Dear Parents,
Great news from the scrip office! Thanks to our wonderful SJB families, we had our most profitable year ever. The scrip program brought in a record $133,679.40. Of this, $79,024.59 went into the school's general fund. Even better, an additional $54,654.81 was given back to SJB families in tuition rebates! What a wonderful way to keep your tuition costs lower while also raising money for the school. The highest earning family received a $1,608.90 tuition credit - wow! That is cutting the annual tuition bill by almost a third.
That said, there is still room for improvement. We have some families who do not currently participate in the scrip program (gasp!). Our goal is 100% participation, so if you have not previously bought scrip, please consider giving it a try. A new scrip year has just begun, and we would love to have new families join in. Stop by the window with the green awning and get started earning tuition credit right away.
Open enrollment continues for some grades. Please pass the word for the next Kindergarten or Prekindergarten Spotlight on April 16th at 9 a.m. See the classrooms, see the students, ask questions, talk to the teachers and feel the community! -
Tuesday, April 16 9 a.m. - 10 a.m.

Friday, May 3 9:15 a.m. - 10:15 a.m.
St. John Bosco Catholic School provides a faith based, academically focused education for children 4 to 14 years old. You can pass along the 5 "C"s of St. John Bosco Catholic School. Christ- What makes St. John Bosco unique from other public and private schools is that we pray and grow in faith together, as we share in our belief of God. Curriculum - Our kids benefit from a rigorous curriculum that prepares them for success in high school, college and career. The curriculum aligns with Common Core standards, teaches 21st century skills, and Gospel values. Teacher and parent communication is open and encouraged and skills are assessed throughout the year, not once a year. Community - Our St. John Bosco community is like a large family with active parents, caring and skilled teachers and a friendly staff all dedicated to serving my kids and others. People here know my kids and they know our family. In a big place like Phoenix, that's important. Campus - Our St. John Bosco campus is a beautiful, safe environment. The classrooms are bright with natural light and there is lots of open space for gathering, playing and for sports. I would love to spend my days there. Child- St. John Bosco focuses on developing my "whole child" through academic excellence, serving others and growing in faith. SJB is where FAITH is formed and LEADERS are born. Thank you to the parent Communication Committee for putting together the 5 C's of St. John Bosco. Mrs. Conner
