Principal's Note
Thank you for the well wishes regarding the announcement last week that I am not returning next year. I appreciate you and will miss you and your children very much.  A committee is being formed, consisting of several staff members, members of the advisory board and parish staff.     The Catholic Schools Office will assist in the screening of new applicants and facilitate the interview process with the interviews being anticipated in early April, after Easter break. The committee's role will be to recommend a candidate to the Father Gary, who will make the final selection.

Last Monday's Q & A focused on security.  There was  considerable discussion regarding whether limiting our open gates during the start of school or closing our gates and not allowing parents on campus should be considered. We did have another lock down drill last Monday, as I mentioned in last week's BITE.  The students and teachers came through the drill successfully and we included many of our substitute teachers in the exercise.   We have had two security here on campus last week, collecting information in order to prepare a consultants here on campus last week to begin a proposal for communication hardware, currently identified as our weakest link.

Tucson Gem and Mineral Show
A round of applause to Harris K. who demonstrated multiple St. John Bosco LASER skills by entering a display into the junior competition at the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show on February 14th.  Harris selected specimens and set up a museum style display that featured the Arizona Mining Districts and some of the minerals that come from these famous mines and districts.  Hundreds of visitors from around the world attended the show that helps foster better appreciation of the diversity and beauty of Arizona minerals.  We're proud of you Harris!

Stations of the Cross
On March 15 the School Families are invited to lead the Stations of the Cross in the Worship Space at St. Benedict.  Our Prayer Journey has each family lead a station, and there is typically a parent and a child reflection.  Immediately following the Stations of the Cross is a simple soup and bread meal.  New this year, will be a Taize (ta-zay) Prayer service to follow.  This is a family event, and a great way to share, or experience for the first time, a tradition in our Catholic Faith.  Add the date to your calendars now for March 15th starting at 6 p.m.

On March 1, another parish group will be leading Stations of the Cross on the School Campus.  Stations begin at 6 p.m. followed by a simple soup meal, please join us!
Field Day
This year Field Day will be on February 28th from 8:30 to 11:00.  We need volunteers and snacks!  Please see the sign up genius link for more information.
