Hello, Old Donation!
Today, I find myself more grateful than ever to be working in this place. Ben had to go out of town unexpectedly, and as I write this, Levi is learning and playing with his friends at ODEDS and Joel is taking a nap in Fr. Fred's office. Not many people are lucky enough to be able to work with their little ones in tow!
It's a rainy day today, all week actually, so to break up the monotony why don't you come on over to the church tonight for our Wednesday Night Program? I'll be starting us off with Eucharist in the church at 6:00pm with dinner to follow at 6:30, and Bob will finish out the night with what promises to be a great discussion. We will continue the Adult Forum conversation from this past Sunday morning on Marriage and Same-Sex Unions. Whether you are for, against, or indifferent towards this issue, it is incredibly relevant to our lives today. Please come and add your voice to the discussion, or simply sit back and listen!
Additionally on Wednesday at 6pm, the new GriefShare group will meet in Alfriend House. For anyone who has experienced a loss and is grieving, this group is a wonderful, national program that has helped many express their grief and find biblical application for it. Spread the word! The group is open to anyone, with any faith background.
Then on Friday, Ladies' Game Night returns for the October gathering, so come out to Alfriend House at 7pm for some great fellowship!
Finally, mark your calendars for this coming Sunday as we celebrate St. Francis with the Blessing of the Animals! Bring all your non-human family members to church at 10:30 for a joint outdoor service in the graveyard, weather permitting. Bob will be preaching, and he, Fred, and I will all be there to bless your pets and celebrate Eucharist with you! Pray for a break in the rain so that we can celebrate this day together outdoors, though pets are welcome rain or shine, indoors or out.
See you around campus!

God our strength and our redeemer, We ask for your loving presence and for your peace to be with the people of Syria, of all religious traditions and of none. Be with those in positions of leadership, that their decisions may hasten peace and bring an end to violence. Be with those who are in fear for their safety and their lives. Be with those who have lost their homes, livelihoods, and loved ones. Give them strength and courage. And be with us, as we listen and discern your call to us. Equip us and empower us to be witnesses to your love - as advocates and as servants, as ministers of welcome and of hope for Syrians and all those displaced by war and violence. In your Holy name we pray, Amen.
