The Fourth Sunday after the Epiphany

Weekly Chimes

Dear friends,

Father Bob and Chris are off to the celebration of Drew Foisie's installation as Rector of St. Aidan's, Camano Island, WA. There is no Wednesday evening program this week. Our Wednesday evening programs resume on February 25th with a five week Lenten Teaching Series.

Friday evening the Middle School youth group is hosting a lock-in at Alfriend House from 9:00pm to 8:00am Saturday morning.

On Saturday evening Schola Cantorum will perform in the Historic Church at 7:00pm. The program will feature a celebration of the American Standard with songs by George and Ira Gershwin, Cole Porter, Rodgers and Hammerstein. Admission is free and donations are most welcome. For more information see Schola Cantorum.

This Sunday we welcome the Rev. Susan DeGavre as our Celebrant at 10:30 in the historic church.  Kipper, as she is known to friends, has recently resettled in Virginia Beach from Colorado.  We are delighted that Kipper has chosen Old Donation as her parish home.

Also, this Sunday, our 9:30am Christian Formation hour features an eyewitness account of historic march from Selma to Birmingham. Carvell Taylor will present "A Selma Perspective: Civil Rights & our Christian Responsibility." Carvell was an active participant in this historical event. Seeing the movie Selma has reminded me of our sacred responsibility as "a people of the story" to pass down this chapter of our history, just as Israel was charged to tell the Passover story to their children and their children's children.

And, a reminder that Day School registration begins on Wednesday.  See you on Sunday!
