OCTOBER CHAPTER DEVELOPMENT MEETING - NEW VENUE! Our chapter meetings take place every month on the first Sunday of the month. CISV youth spend the time doing CISV activities and planning upcoming events. CISV parents review CISV progress and learn about new opportunities. Often, we get together at the end of the meeting to share an exercise.
Anyone interested in learning more about CISV is welcome to attend. The next meeting will be Sunday, October 2, 2016, 3-4:30 p.m. at Chatham University. The exact location/room of the meeting will be sent in a separate email as a reminder. Please plan on coming so you don't miss a thing!

CHAPTER RETREAT, SEPTEMBER 10, 10 a.m - 6 p.m.
We will be gathering for a Chapter Retreat on September 10 at the Mellon Board Room and Terrace in Mellon Hall on the Chatham University campus. Using our collective brain power, we'll strategize on ideas for recruiting, fundraising and making our chapter even better. In addition, a recruiter from the
Peace Corps will be presenting and we'll have a session on How to Be a Good Host Family.
We will also have a talk and activity on Human Rights, the theme for CISV in the coming year.
If you have a topic you would like covered at the Chapter Retreat, please email Gina Wynn. Hope to see you there!
Please register today so we can put in an accurate order for lunch. (Each family will have to pay for their lunch).

BE A PART OF OUR INTERNATIONAL PEACE DAY PROJECT SEPTEMBER 18, 1:30-3 PM!
The International Peace Day Project is an international holiday to celebrate peace throughout our communities! Every year, each CISV chapter is encouraged to host an event for the holiday. This year, we will be teaming up with G2G!
G2G (Genrations to Generations - a non-profit) is an LMO (Like Minded Organization) that provides interactive activities for middle and high school students with the Jewish Association on Aging community and residents. We will be volunteering at their "Casino" night, playing games and assisting the seniors. Please sign up below!

Annual Pasta Dinner Fundraiser & Silent Auction, Friday, October 21! It's our biggest fundraiser of the year and a way to introduce new members to the wonder that is CISV! Plus, we'll be revealing the travel programs for 2017 and there will be a Silent Auction with amazing opportunities to bid for goods, services and entertainment packages all over Pittsburgh, as well as a raffle! A big thanks to all of our donors. The event will be 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. at the Bulgarian Center in Homestead. Please come and invite friends. Look for the registation information in an upcoming email!

ONE MONTH LEFT TO COLLECT FOR THE SILENT AUCTION/PASTA DINNER, OCTOBER 21 AT THE BULGARIAN CENTER IN HOMESTEAD!
All families with a 2016 delegate/traveler are asked to give or get one or more items for the pasta dinner silent auction this fall -- the earlier the better. Each item submitted to Alicia Klein by 9/1/16 receives one entry to a drawing for a free night at Seven Springs.
Simply print out the ASK LETTER and approach businesses you frequent. Ask for the things on which you would like to bid. And, bring a JB-er to talk about their CISV experiences first-hand; they almost always nail the donation. The Ask Letter explains CISV and references our Tax ID number.

SUPPORT CISV EVERY TIME YOU BUY GROCERIES OR GAS!
It's so easy and it costs you nothing. Simply order a minimum of $100 in Giant Eagle Gift Cards each month! Our treasurer will mail the cards in the first few days of each month with an invoice. FOR EVERY $100 YOU ORDER, CISV GETS $5 - IT ADDS UP FAST - AND YOU DON'T SPEND A CENT!
Think about how much you spend each month on groceries at Giant Eagle or Market District and gas at GetGo. A family of 4 easily puts out $600 or more. That's a gift of $30 a month to CISV - a $360 contribution at the end of the year - for nothing!
Plus, as long as you scan your Giant Eagle Advantage Card® when shopping, you STILL earn fuelperks!® - you just pay with a gift card! You can even use your Giant Eagle Gift Cards to buy cards from other retailers to shop somewhere else, so you earn fuelperks! on them, too (especially great around the holidays when fuelperks! are usually doubled!) Finally, the cards are great to give teenagers that need to fill up the tank or stop and buy milk on their way home - way better than cash!
Last year, CISV raised more than $3,000 in funds from the Giant Eagle Gift Card program - let's double it - at no cost to anyone!
Sign up today or consider upping your current gift card order by $100 - remember, gift cards are good for TWO YEARS!
