CHAPTER MEETING

Our meetings include chapter business, upcoming events and current opportunities to get involved. The Junior Branch meets separately, and includes CISV activities. All newcomers are welcome and we look forward to seeing you there!
We will also be welcoming any additional donations of school supplies and backpacks, for refugee families resettled in the Pittsburgh area. Please check out the supplies list or contact Elaine Hyder if you have any questions. Thank you!

PASTA DINNER AND PROGRAM ANNOUNCEMENTS 
Friday - November 6, 2015
6:00pm to 9:00pm at Wilkins School Community Center
Our 7th Annual Pasta Dinner fundraiser is just around the corner! Please save the date and join us as we announce the programs for 2015-16. There will be lots of pasta, a silent auction, Junior Branch raffle, 50/50 raffle and salsa dance lessons. Online registration will begin soon, so please join us and bring a friend! The funds raised by this event help to support our chapter, as we go into two consecutive years of hosting programs. It takes many people to pull together this event, and we need your help! Please volunteer on one of our committees and consider asking a local business for a silent auction donation. Please contact Alicia Klein if you have questions about the auction. She produces a great video each year, so don't forget!

 YOUTH MEETING - SUMMER 2016
Staff applications are being accepted!
CISV Pittsburgh is hosting a summer Youth Meeting next year for 16-18 year old delegates. Youth Meetings bring small groups of participants together, from different countries within a region. They will explore aspects of peace education related to the 2016 theme, Sustainable Development. Participants will share their perspectives and take a more active role in the planning and organizing of the program, and will also think about how they can apply what they have gained from their experience within their own community. We are currently accepting applications for Program Director and Program Staff. Applicants should have an understanding of CISV's purpose and principles, and must be age 21 or older. This program will NOT include delegates from CISV Pittsburgh.

 EXCLUSIVE JB PITTSBURGH T-SHIRT!
Your JB Board has created a great T-shirt to represent JB Pittsburgh. Cost is $15, and will be making an appearance at the pasta dinner, along with other new merchandise and old favorites. Proceeds will go to help provide scholarships to local students and to support activities for your JB! (Click the photo for a closer look!)

 VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
2016 will be a very busy year for CISV Pittsburgh. We are hosting two great events, and we need your help!
If you are a parent wanting to learn more about the activities and programming that make CISV so unique, chaperoning one of these events is the perfect way to see juniors in action. All the hard work is worthwhile when you meet the wonderful participants, so please consider helping out. Thanks!

 WARMTH DRIVE 2015
There is always a great need for warm clothing in Pittsburgh! We are once again partnering with AJAPO for items that will help newly settled families be better prepared for this winter. Please bring new/gently used coats, hats, winter socks or gloves to our November chapter meeting, Pasta Dinner or December chapter meeting. Thank you!

ONE DAY, ONE GOAL
Thank you to everyone that participated in this year's soccer games with Children of Shangri-Lost. It was a memorable day and we are so proud of the efforts made by our JB and chapter members! We are so grateful to Diwas Timsina and his organization for joining us and opening the door to more opportunities for us to welcome more amazing families to Pittsburgh! COMMUNITY PARTNERS  A HUGE thank you goes out to BEST OF THE BATCH FOUNDATION, who donated 40 backpacks, fully loaded with school supplies to our friends at AJAPO!
Along with donations collected by our friends at Sacred Heart Elementary School over the last two months, new students arriving in Pittsburgh this year will have all the supplies they need! Thank you for your generous support!
