SB County Veterans Stand Down

CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS!!!
For many years the Solvang Chamber of Commerce has been volunteering at the Santa Barbara County Veterans Stand Down. Again, this year, the Chamber has taken on the "Volunteer Gate Check-in" and we need 10-12 volunteers to help us with this most important event in support of those who have served our country.
Stand Down is Saturday, October 15 at the Santa Maria Fairpark
You need to be there by 7 am
You will be fed breakfast and lunch and provided a T-Shirt

Village streets are decked with thousands of twinkle lights and more than 150 boutique and specialty shops host open houses and special celebrations throughout the season. On Friday, December 2, the tree-lighting ceremony starts at 5:30 pm with dance performances and musical entertainment in Solvang Park. Julefest Parade is Saturday, December 3 at 11 am. Shop, Mingle and Jingle specials at retailers are offered December 3-4 & 10-11. The outdoor, live, free Nativity Pageant is December 10. The taste-tempting Julefest Holiday Wine & Beer Walk is December 10-11. The annual Christmas Tree Burn is January 6, 2017.

Do not hose down hard surfaces such as driveways and sidewalks. Sweeping up residual sediment, leaves and landscaping waste and place within green waste bins to prevent them from being in contact with rain or irrigation water where it can be carried away to the river and/or into a nearby creek.

For areas around trees and shrubs, be sure to have 3-4 inches of mulch in place to reduce evaporation and build healthy soil. Mulch is readily available throughout the County and available for free pickup or affordable delivery.
