Get More Tourists in Your Business!
| |

|
The Solvang Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the newest local publication, the Santa Ynez Valley Star in our China Ready Program. Solvang welcomes approximately 1,500 - 2,000 Asian tourists weekly and the Santa Ynez Valley Star is creating an on-line page in Mandarin. Increase your tourist business by placing an ad in this publication.
The Chinese version is going to be amazing addition for our Chinese visitors It will be online only as a downloadable e-reader that visitors will be able to read about the history of our community as well as learn more about our culture, events and businesses we have.
Businesses need to place ads that will be specific to the Chinese version. They will be translated into Chinese so it will be easy to communicate with visitors that don't speak English. They will feel like they are getting a special discount or coupon and the business will gain more traffic knowing their business is welcoming to these tourists.
If any business needs help with wanting to translate a menu or greeting to their customers we have that available as well.
Attached below are the rates for our Summer/Fall edition. They are deeply discounted already but we can offer 15% off an ad 1/4 page or higher.

This publication will be unique to the Solvang area for now as the Asian tourists primarily visit Solvang. This version has been translated into simple Chinese so that the majority of the Chinese visitors will be able to understand it. We are partnering with the Solvang CVB and Chamber so the visitor's will know our publication exists just for their visit. It will be viewed online only as most of them have tablets or cell phones that they use. Print is not used very much in China. This will work to your advantage as you can see how many people are downloading it and bringing it in to your business. It will also help you communicate with these visitor's that don't speak English as they can understand your business and what you offer.
There will be stories are about the history of Solvang, current events, business profiles and places of interest. This is intended to help them navigate the streets of Solvang and understand what the town is about.
According to Tracy Farhad of the Solvang CVB, there are roughly 1.5 million people visiting Solvang each year (numbers from a 2012 survey). Tracy Beard from the Solvang Chamber has said there are approximately 1,500 that visit weekly and those numbers are growing. The State Tourism office is reporting in the last several years, each year the number from China increases roughly 30 percent. In the next year several of the tour buses from China will be spending the night instead of just staying for an hour. That should increase TOT revenue and sales tax for the city.
This culture is about the feeling that they are getting a deal or a discount, so if you decide to advertise we strongly suggest you put in a "special" discount or deal to ensure your customer is satisfied. Your ad will be translated into Chinese so they know what you are offering. This will help them identify with your business. Please send us a picture of your products or store front so we can include with your ad.
All businesses that advertise will be listed on the map we include as well.

LIVE OAK MUSIC FESTIVAL
| |
 |
Strike the opening chords to the summer soundtrack at the
28th annual Live Oak Music Festival
Festival headliners include Wynonna & The Big Noise,
The California Honeydrops and Jay Farrar Trio
For generations of devotees who consider themselves "Live Oakies," spending every Father's Day weekend under the shady oaks of Live Oak Camp is what strikes the opening chords to the summer soundtrack. The family-friendly festival is a 3-day medley of camping, concerts, crafts, international food, and drinks near Lake Cachuma in Santa Barbara County. The kick-off-to- summer festival runs Friday, June 17 through Sunday, June 19.
Headlining the first day of the festival is the Jay Farrar Trio. The California Honeydrops, a swinging party band that honed its craft in the Bay Area subway tunnels, headline Saturday's lineup.
The weekend lineup includes a rousing and diverse range of musical genres, culminating with Sunday's headliner Wynonna & The Big Noise. Grammy award-winner and country music chart-topper Wynonna Judd and her band have a unique sound that ranges from rockin' blues to rootsy country.
While parents enjoy the music on multiple stages and the relaxing atmosphere, Live Oak children's activity coordinator Shevon Sullivan says activities like the teen game room, talent show, faerie forest, hiking excursions, and kids' concerts cater to kids and teens of every age. Newly available this year are the family day package, with two adult and two child passes, parking pass and craft pass for $200, as well as family craft passes for families to enjoy multiple craft activities throughout the festival, available in $50 or $100 increments.
All Live Oak Music Festival proceeds benefit KCBX Public Radio, serving San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Southern Monterey counties. Festival gates open at 8 a.m. on Friday, June 17, 2016. Day tickets and weekend pass prices range from $25 (child day ticket) to $130 (adult full festival/3-day pass). Camping is included with the 3-day pass. Parking fees are additional. Ticket information for the 2016 Live Oak Music Festival, entertainment line-up, and complete festival details are available at liveoakfest.org.

Host Homes Needed!
| |
|
|
On June 23rd, the BIG Big Band from Sweden will be performing at the Santa Ynez Valley Presbyterian Church as part of their final US tour. They are a world renowned Big Band that has been together for over 60 years and have performed all over the world. One of the greatest needs is housing for the band members for just one night. The band consists of high school and college students and professionals from doctors to teachers. Community members are needed to provide rides to one or two band members to their house after the concert, provide a breakfast and sack lunch for their trip to Orange County the following day and drop them off at Bethania Lutheran Church by 9 am the next morning. We are also offering any hosts reserved seating for the concert, which is sure to be an amazing musical performance!
If you are able to host, please contact Pastor Chris Brown at pastor@bethanialutheran.net and let him know how many members you can host. Your help makes this concert possible!
THANK YOU!
