The Solvang Chamber of Commerce is not sponsoring nor promoting nor hosting this Great Food Truck Race event!
This is additional information we received about the event.
Four food trucks will compete with each other to sell the most of the assignment sampler within a set time. You can expect to see the trucks for 2-3 hours late Thursday afternoon after they go grocery shopping and set up in a legal parking place. Friday is the big day with the food truck competition set between 11 am - 5 pm. The "loser" (one who sells the least during that set time) will be filmed/announced on Saturday morning (no selling that day). Then they head to the next destination and hopefully we leave a lasting impression of Solvang on the viewers as well!
We don't want to throw anybody under the Food Truck, the Solvang Chamber of Commerce is just providing the information to you that we know.
Brad Vidro, City Manager, says that trucks pick their own spots to park and try to sell their food. Trucks have to be legally parked and cannot create a traffic hazard. The show is very sensitive to upsetting restaurant owners and is no way trying to compete with them. If a restaurant gets upset with them being out front or nearby and asks the truck to leave, they must relocate the truck to another location. |
