Project of the MonthLand O' Lakes Yard Rehab

Our client in Land O' Lakes had some issues with her frond yard. A large shade tree had been removed leaving her yard wide open to the Sun and populated with overgrown plants and shrubs which were ill suited for direct sun. In addition, as a busy professional, our client wanted a look which was interesting and inviting but low maintenence at the same time. Most importantly, she didn't want to mow the grass anymore.
So Gardencarpentry.com got to it! We ripped out the grass, cut back and moved plenty of shrubs to open things up, created some pathways, planted a few trees, put in mulch, pebble, stone, a lot of light loving plants, and topped it all off with landscape lighting.
Our client's yard used to be run of the mill drab. Now she is getting rave reviews from all of the neighbors...and no cutting the grass! Click the photo above to see time lapse.

Plant of the Month
Verbena
(Verbena Speciosa) | Click image for detailed info |
For many of us, Autumn brings to mind images of vibrant color. Verbena is a great way to bring rich color tones into your outdoor living spaces! This hearty perennial comes in brilliant shades of purple and blue and is well suited for the drier soils common to Florida over the next several months. Verbena is an excellent ground cover. Its leaves hold a dark green color year round and its stems will creep along the ground to spread and fill in thin areas. As a result, it is a good plant to help curtail erosion in any areas of your property which suffers from too much sandy soil. It is not generally affected by pests and did I mention it is beautiful? To find out more about whether verbena is suitable for your yard or garden click on the photo above or the link below. http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/fp600 |
