A fun & easy way to weigh in on the future of Hillsborough County...
Imagine2040.org launches Friday!
Too busy to attend public meetings? Do you care about our community's future but don't know how you can make a difference? Imagine 2040 is an easy way to participate in planning for our future from the comfort of any location at any time of the day or night! There are lots of reasons why up to 600,000 new residents will live and work here by 2040. The Planning Commission and Metropolitan Planning Organization for Transportation invite anyone who lives, works, or plays in Hillsborough County to use an online game-style survey designed to interactively rate and comment on a variety of strategies to best meet our needs today and into the future. How easy is it? "I've been on the MPO for ten years, and this is the easiest-to-use public involvement tool I've seen," commented Plant City Vice Mayor and MPO Board member Rick Lott at a recent Imagine2040.org preview. With a few clicks, some drags, and a little typing here and there, people can tell how they see the future of our region, what's most important to them, what they like and don't like about different growth strategies, and rate their preferences for homes, jobs, transportation, and funding infrastructure to meet our future needs. Imagine2040.org will be available from August 16 until October 20. "The ideal vision will most likely be a combination of many strategies, so we've made it convenient for people to express themselves in a fun way while providing the information we need," said Planning Commission and MPO Executive Director Ray Chiaramonte. " This really is something big for Hillsborough County. Everyone can work together to turn the challenges that comes with growth into opportunities for a thriving future."
The vision the public helps develop now will guide the plans that are the roadmap to the future... The 2040 Transportation Plan and the four 2040 Comprehensive Plans for Tampa, Temple Terrace, Plant City and Hillsborough County. Imagine2040.org site features: - Imagine 2040 interactive survey
