With STAAR testing behind them, students at the Village Library have recently had the opportunity to explore a variety of careers through a series of "Career Day" speakers.
Most of the speakers have been volunteers who work with the children regularly as tutors. For most of the year, they have focused on the students' homework when they meet each week, but as the school year ends, they are taking time to share information about their education and vocation with the entire group. Students have heard from a variety of professions including an engineer, writer, electrician, nutritionist, and others. We hope these speakers will inspire students to think about different options as they plan their future.
If you're interested in volunteering at the Village Library next fall, please contact Catherine Hollis at catherine.hollis@missioncentraltx.org or 817-595-0011. Volunteers are needed during the school year on most weekday afternoons. |
