JANUARY 2016
QUICK FACT
The Coat of Many Colors Resale Shop raised more than $420,000 towards Mission Central's budget in 2015. This accounts for more than 60% of the revenue that allows us to empower our neighbors in need. You can ensure the success of the Coat of Many Colors by shopping at the store, donating your gently used clothing and household items, or volunteering your time. Mission Central Welcomes 2016 Board of Directors
Mission Central is pleased to announce the addition of eight new members to our Board of Directors. These members represent a variety of faiths, backgrounds, and professions throughout the Hurst, Euless and Bedford communities.

New board members are Darryl Crawford of Life Fellowship Church, Ken Ehrke of Embrace UCC, Beth Engelhardt of Whitley Penn, Anmarie Garcia of the HEB ISD, Ashleigh Johnson of the City of Hurst, Joseph Kazadi of First United Methodist Church of Hurst, Magnolia Martinez-Peņa of the UT Arlington School of Social Work, and Deanna Molsbee of Martin United Methodist Church.

It is with warm hearts that we also thank David Nash and Donna Barnes for their service on our Board of Directors. Both volunteers played critical roles in Mission Central's recent growth. David was actively involved in planning and executing the expansion of the Coat of Many Colors Resale Shop and Donna served as Secretary our Strategic Planning Committee. Both board members completed their terms at the end of 2015, and we appreciate the time and expertise they have shared with Mission Central.
Souper Bowl of Caring benefits Village Pantry guests
It's that time of year when North Texans are encouraged to tackle hunger by participating in the Souper Bowl of Caring. From now until the Super Bowl on February 7th, shoppers at Albertsons, Kroger, Market Street, and Tom Thumb will have the opportunity to purchase pre-made bags of food to be shared with local food pantries.

The program's 2016 goal is to raise $57 million dollars in cash and food donations throughout the drive. North Texas is better than halfway to that goal, with 8 days left before the big game.

This year, Kroger stores have committed to ensuring that product donations to their stores are kept within the local community. As a result of that commitment, Mission Central has already seen more than one ton of food donations due to the Souper Bowl of Caring. This food will go directly to our neighbors in Hurst, Euless, and Bedford.

If you shop at any of these grocery stores, please consider purchasing a "tackle hunger" bag. You can also help end hunger in our community by donating to Mission Central or volunteering at our Village Pantry or Mobile Food Pantry.
Community Resource Center Launched for 2016
January marked the official launch of Mission Central's Community Resource Center. In addition to food from the Village Pantry, guests to Mission Central are now interviewed regarding various needs they may have in their household. As guests indicate specific needs, our volunteers will share specialized resources for addressing those needs in the HEB area.

The Community Resource Center is one result of Mission Central's recently updated strategic plan. We are seeking to sustain our emergency services, like food assistance, while growing transformational services like our Community Resource Center, Family Opportunities Program, and Village Library. As we learn more about our guests in the coming months, we'll also be able to make decisions about what additional services would be most relevant and needed in our community.

If you know of anyone in our community in need of assistance, please invite them to visit our Community Resource Center.  We're open Tuesday - Friday, 10 am - 4 pm (except the 2nd Friday of every month). We're also open on the first Saturday of the month from 10 am - 1 pm.
