North Texas Giving Day donations top $25,000
A HUGE thank you to everyone who supported Mission Central on North Texas Giving Day.  We had hoped to double last year's donations of $8,000, but with your help, we more than TRIPLED that giving.  The final total for giving on September 19th was $25,375.

If you didn't get a chance to donate on North Texas Giving Day, you can donate any time via our website.  Your donations help us serve thousands of families in our community each year.
GED student receives bike for new job
After attending the Village Library's GED preparation classes, Paul recently took the GED exam.  We are proud to say that he passed the test and will be starting a new job next week.

Paul's new job is a bit far to walk and he has no car.  Thanks to a generous donation of several bicycles, we were able to provide Paul with a new bicycle to make his commute to work easier and safer.

Special thanks to our volunteers who transported the donated bicycles to Mission Central and helped put them together.  For households that can't afford an automobile, a bicycle greatly expands the area where adults can look for work.
Update: Coat of Many Colors
It's an exciting time at the Coat of Many Colors Resale Shop!

As you may know, we are scheduled to expand the size of the store this year.  We're putting the final touches on all the details with the property managers and contractors and plan to start construction soon.

In the meantime, we've been busy integrating the fixtures we purchased from Gallery 26 into the store.  If you haven't been by the store in awhile, please stop by and take a look! The new fixtures allow us to display more items and to organize them in a more appealing manner.

We're also excited to announce the addition of Lisa Stewart as our new Assistant Manager.  Lisa has broad experience in retail and has worked extensively with volunteers. Be sure to welcome her next time you're at the store!

We are so grateful to the many faithful volunteers who have helped keep the store running smoothly while we searched for a new Assistant Manager.  Because of their hard work at the store, Mission Central is able to provide services to thousands of people in our community.

winter-gift-holding.jpg Mission Central's Family Opportunities Program helps guide families who are homeless or on the verge of homelessness back to a life of self-sufficiency.  Last year, 57 families in our community graduated from this program and are now financially stable.

If you'd like to help make Christmas a little brighter for these families, please contact Melody Wilson at melodywilson@mcfamilyopportunities.org.  She will contact you in late November to discuss the current needs of the families in her program.

Last year, one of the families received a laptop computer from a Sunday School class at First United Methodist Church of Hurst.  Because of that gift, the father was able to obtain a job working from home in the IT industry. The gift truly changed this family forever!  Every gift, big or small, is a blessing to the hard-working families in our program.
