We continue to deliver your donations of food to our local Highline Food Bank each Tuesday.
According to director Mike Werle there is never enough baby food to satisfy the demand. Also, our Food Bank is seeing a huge increase in families in distress.

The Rest of the Story...
I heard a great story from one of our customers and I want to share it with you: Last summer our customer took a car trip from New England to South Carolina with her 25 year old daughter. It was her job to read Diana Gabaldon's "Outlander" while her daughter drove. She said they didn't get much visiting done because her daughter would say "Read, Mom!". When her daughter's birthday was coming up, she asked her Mom to give her copies of books she had read and loved as a girl. Doesn't it just make you smile?
Going on your own car trip? We have copies of Diana Gabaldon's books in the store. This series is set in Scotland in the 1700's. We also have a good selection of audio books. I'll be taking one of those along on my trip to Arizona in April.
Historical fiction is one of my favorite genres. I never was much of a history buff, so it's an easy way to learn about cultures, society structures and politics while being entertained with characters and plots. Some of my favorites are Philippa Gregory, Bernard Cornwell and Alison Weir. I also enjoy mysteries set in periods in history. Good examples are Anne Perry's William Monk series, Dianne Day's Fremont Jones series and Ellis Peters' Brother Cadfael series. If you, like me, enjoy historical period stories, please ask for suggestions. We are always ready to help. Happy Reading ---Gayle |
