Recently, I was asked to speak at the Sleeter Group Accounting Solutions Conference in Anaheim, California. I spent some time browsing the Solutions Expo where I learned of a number of products that might assist businesses of all sizes with online billing and accounting, sales tax automation, and inventory and bar-code programs.
I felt that the following products were the most interesting, innovative and perhaps most valuable.
Bill.com is an online cash flow command and control center that can give you a better way to manage accounts payable and receivables. The features include online bill pay, custom invoicing services, unlimited documents storage, mobile access and collaboration tools. This program will also synchronize its data with your accounting software and help to reduce errors.
Concur reduces the chances that work related travel expenses will slip through the cracks. Those pesky pieces of paper that end up wadded up in your pockets, purses and briefcases become a thing of the past. You might think that missing one here or there doesn't amount to much, but doing that on a regular basis can really add up at the end of the year. Concur helps to capture travel expenses from your smart phone or tablet and even take pictures of your receipts. Transactions are quickly available when you are ready to create your expense report, increasing accuracy and reducing the time and aggravation it takes to put your report together. And with accounting software integration, transactions don't need to be re-entered reducing the time it takes to get your reimbursement.
SmartVault integrates with Quickbooks and Outlook to provide client portals for secure sharing as well as a way to store, access and share documents - securely - online.
If you prefer online accounting to desktop but want the power of your desktop software, you can work with companies that will host your software and data, giving you anywhere, anytime access to your applications. Two companies that we have worked with are UniData and Flywire.
Alternatively, there are many choices for online accounting solutions. QuickBooks Online, Xero, Monchilla, FreshBooks, Wave Accounting and SageOne are all online accounting solutions that might work for your company, depending on the features you are looking for. Deciding on the right accounting or web hosting solution should be based on your environment and your needs.
