2nd Annual Monk Run 
Students and friends are invited to join the monks for a morning run and more on Saturday, November 7, 2015. Check-in at 8:00am, run begins at 9:00am. $10 entry fee covers shirt, refreshments, and more. In order to receive a shirt, you must register by 12:00pm on October 26, 2015. A gathering will be held with the monks immediately following the run.

River Cities Credit Union Grand Opening
River Cities Community Credit Union was established in 1958 and is committed to improving the financial well-being of our members. Membership is available to anyone who lives, works, worships, or is a member of an organization in Atchison, Brown, Doniphan, Jackson, Jefferson or Leavenworth counties. "Local People Helping Local People" is the credit union motto and we strive to put that into action.  We are collecting for area charities this holiday season and hope to write some big checks in December. River Cities recently purchased the building at 513 Commercial Street and moved October 23rd.

United Way Trivia Contest
Join us for our annual United Way Trivia Contest on Friday, November 13th at 7:00pm! $10 per person gets your team a spot in the contest and free range of the many tables of food! Atchison Community Educational Foundation Wine Tasting
The Atchison Community Educational Foundation will host a wine tasting fundraiser on Saturday, November 14th to provide funding for scholarships for at-risk students in the Atchison community. At the event, participants will enjoy hors d'oeuvres as they sample a variety of wines and network with current and past scholarship recipients, as well as fellow foundation supporters. Tickets for the wine tasting cost $30 each or $50 per couple and can be purchased by contacting Melinda Pregont at 913.367.5103 or melinda.pregont@gmail.com

"Amorphous Perception" Open at the Muchnic Gallery
Through November 15th, the Muchnic Gallery is pleased to present  its fall exhibit  "Amorphous Perception", a mixed-media photography exhibit featuring  Maryville, Missouri, artist Jeff Foster. The Atchison Art Association will host an Opening Reception, Friday, September 18, 5-7p.m., at the Muchnic Gallery. This event is free and open to the public.

Mo-Kan Lender Information Opportunity

How would you like to know more about the key components your lender will look at when you ask for a loan?  Starting in August, Mo-Kan will partner with the Atchison Chamber of Commerce in an effort to assist area entrepreneurs looking for financing. Mo-Kan specializes in identifying the appropriate financing that will suit the business's immediate and long-term needs.  Entrepreneurs wanting to purchase an existing business, start a new business, or expand current operations are able to meet with Mo-Kan free of charge. Mo-Kan will be available at the Chamber of Commerce on the third Thursday of the month between the hours of 1:30pm and 2:30pm.

Highland Community College Nursing Program Ribbon Cutting and After Hours
You are invited to be our guest on Wednesday, November 18 from 4:30pm-6:30pm to celebrate the Open House and Official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the new JANEAN BOWEN SIMULATION CENTER. The celebration will be held in the Nursing Department at Highland Community College Technical Center (1501 West Riley, Atchison, KS 66002) Deckard Building F Lower Level. You will have the opportunity to tour our facility, enjoy some delicious refreshments, and congratulate Mrs. Bowen on her many achievements. Ribbon Cutting at 5:15.

Small Business Saturday
This year, Small Business Saturday is scheduled for November 28th. Small Business Saturday is an American shopping holiday held on the Saturday after Thanksgiving during one of the busiest shopping periods of the year. Small Business Saturday encourages holiday shoppers to patronize brick and mortar businesses that are small and local--like our stores here in Atchison! Sights & Sounds of Christmas

Mistletoe Market Holiday Fair
The Atchison Middle School Parent Club is excited to announce the 2015 Mistletoe Market Holiday Fair. This holiday fair will feature vendors of every kind including bake sale, crafts, jewelry, candles, soaps, books, toys, purses, kitchenware, etc! The fair will be held Saturday, December 5th from 10:00am to 3:00pm at Atchison Middle School Commons Area (301 N 5th St). Theatre Atchison's Bike Raffle
A Frozen themed bike and a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles themed bike are being raffled off in connection with Theatre Atchison's Annual Breakfast with Santa. Tickets are $1 for 1 ticket, $5 for 6 tickets. 

Raffle tickets are available for purchase at Theatre Atchison (during business hours and during intermissions for A Christmas Carol), Exchange National Bank, and some holiday events on the Mall such as Sights and Sounds of Christmas. 
The bikes will come with a gift receipt for exchange to a smaller or larger size if desired. The winners will be announced during intermission of the final performance of A Christmas Carol on December 13th.

Salvation Army Bell Ringing
For over 100 years, the Salvation Army around the world has been linked to the Christmas season and to compassion for the needy. The Salvation Army Service Unit in Atchison County is dedicated to meeting the needs of the residents in our county throughout the entire year. Join us in an effort to ensure that the disadvantaged of our community receive the assistance they need. The money raised through the programs described in the PDF found in the "Read More" link will help local residents in our community by providing emergency assistance with utilities, rent, food and clothing. You will also see our Red Kettles in the Community this Christmas season, we hope you will support our bell ringers.
