Community Growth Fund (CGF)

Since the beginning of the year, donations to CGF (Community Growth Fund) have dropped. We had over a $4,000 dollar deficit in the budget from January to June and had to dip into savings, normally used for emergencies, just to cover basic expenses. We want to continue to provide everyone in our sangat with all the things most of us take for granted. Not only do we enjoy a beautifully maintained property; a majestic gurdwara, where we hold our group sadhana, Akhand path and Gurdwara services; a langar kitchen where we cook Guru's Prasad and langar, and our Langar hall where we serve the sangat and host guests and visitors from all over. It would be a shame if we had to give up any one of these things just because we hadn't given enough to the running and maintenance of our ashram, Hacienda de Guru Ram Das.

We'd like to see everyone participate in this Ashram Fund Raising effort. Right now we're asking everyone to consider contributing something more, big or small, so we can keep the ashram functioning smoothly. If you're already paying something, consider donating a little more. If you haven't given, now is the time we really could use your help.  Go to our website to see how you can give today and on a regular monthly basis. That's all it would take to return the ashram budget to a positive cash flow. Together as a community we can prosper!

Yogi Bhajan: Cognition of Recognition
By Harijiwan Singh
Recognition was always an iffy game with the Sir Singh Sahib, Yogi Bhajan. One day he would want to be recognized by everyone, then another day and he'd act almost shy about any acknowledgement. At first it was heard to figure out. But then, after watching him for several years, it became clear. Read entire article
The Guru's Langar Kitchen
Amrit Samrath S., Dev Amrit S., Ariana and Akal S.
The Langar COV has been talking about ways for people to get more involved in the Guru's langar.  They thought it would be great to have sangat members sponsor a langar on a special occasion such as a birthday, an anniversary or the birth of a child. This not only gives individuals a way to honor those occasions but also gives them the opportunity to be blessed by the entire sangat. Many of our second generation adults have had the privilege of attending boarding school in India. What they noticed is that this practice is in place in India and that it is so desired that many Gurdwaras have a waiting list for many months or even years in advance. If you would like to sponsor a langar on your special occasion, you can make a donation by going to the homepage on the ashram website and click on the "Langar Donation" button, or leave your donation with the ashram  secretary during the work week (12:30-4:30pm).  Receive the blessings and make your next family event one to be remembered and serve the sangat as well. You can also make your donations here > Wahe Guru!

Grilled Ratatouille with Fresh Corn - Siri Ved Kaur
Ratatouille is typically made with approximately equal parts peppers, eggplant, tomatoes and squash, cooked with some diced onion, garlic, olive oil, and basil/herbs. Easy to make, it's one of my summer favorites, and is great served warm or room temperature; fabulous with a chunk of good crusty bread. To read more
