Har Meditation for Prosperity

"You should not do it  (this "Har" meditation) more than 3 minutes when you are working during the day, or you will become too rich. I am not joking. Doing it for 11 minutes a day is more than enough. Doing it too much will be greed. It stimulates the mind, the moon center, and Jupiter. When Jupiter and the moon come together, there is no way in the world you will not make wealth" - Yogi Bhajan (Jun 21st 1996 )

Remembering

Rajinder Kaur  Khalsa

Many members of our sangat were deeply touched and uplifted by the manner in which Rajinder Kaur shared her experience of preparing for her transition. She included the sangat in the process, in an open and loving way. Rajinder Kaur lived with grace and courage and great consciousness. She offered the example of her life (and her death!) as a means to guide, inspire and counsel others with kindness and wisdom. We send our heartfelt prayers for her soul's graceful and beautiful merger with the Divine.

Yogi Bhajan Story - Let It Be

By Hari Jiwan Singh

The Master said the words, "Let it be" to me on many occasions. At first, it didn't even register with me. For a considerable amount of time, I remember thinking to myself, 'what does he mean by "let it be".  Doesn't he realize that the situation must be dealt with? How can I just "let it be"?  I knew in my heart of hearts that he was right, but just didn't understand it.

Food for Health - Yummy, Simple Recipe for Quinoa
by Sangeet Kaur of Espanola

When Guru Meher Kaur was recovering from surgery recently, Sangeet Kaur volunteered to bring her a meal. Guru Meher Kaur described it as the best, tastiest quinoa dish she has ever eaten!  Sangeet Kaur says the secret is the addition of tahini and nutritional yeast at the end. (I expect another secret is the healing love and high vibration she put into it!) It's a one-pot meal, so is very simple to prepare. Remember to chant God's Name as you prepare it. See Recipe

Computer Corner - Do you Backup?
by Guruka Singh

In all the years I've been writing this column, one topic recurs over and over: how to backup your data. Why do I keep harping on this subject? Because I keep on seeing Sangat members, over and over again, who lose their music, documents, emails and photos. So, I'm asking again this month, what's YOUR backup strategy?

Evolutionary Astrology - The April 2014 Grand Cross - Driving Change From Within

by Himat Kaur Khalsa

In the midst of a long, several-year cycle of immense internal and external pressure for change, April 2014 stands out as a "pressure-cooker" of a month. The biggest astrological factor in April is the fifth of seven Uranus-Pluto squares (between June 2012 and March 2015), exact on April 21st. This upcoming square is powerfully poignant and penetrating, because Jupiter and Mars move into a formation that turns the Uranus-Pluto square into a cardinal "grand cross"-where there are planets at four equidistant and tense cross points in the sky. Pilgrim's Progress - The Walk to the Sanctuario
By Dharmatma Kaur

Sat Nam. It's springtime and most of you know that in the Christian Easter Season, we start seeing pilgrims making their way to the tiny Santuario de Chimay, just a few miles from the Gurdwara. Every year during Holy Week - especially on Good Friday, which is April 18 this year, thousands of pilgrims walk 1 to 100+ miles to the Santuario. Some walk on their knees or carry large wooden crosses. Some have babies in strollers or on their backs. Some leave Santa Fe at 9pm Thursday, and walk all night to arrive by dawn on Good Friday. Sangat volunteers honor this event by serving drinks, snacks and sunscreen to the pilgrims at a roadside table on the highway near the ashram, on Good Friday morning. It is all a privilege to witness. Read Entire Article

serving the Sanctuario Pilgrims, on Good Friday
Serving snacks to the Sanctuario pilgrims

Here's how you can help the ashram seva team serve the Sanctuario Pilgrims:

Thursday, April 17: Meet up with Hari Singh and the other sevadars at 6 pm in the Langar kitchen, to help fill bags with treats for the pilgrims.  Info: [email protected]

Friday, April 18:  To help serve treats and drinks to the pilgrims - meet out in front of the Country Store, at the corner of Highway 106 and SR 76, at 5:30 am Friday morning (or any time after that until about 10 am). Dress Warmly.  Siri Singh Sahib encouraged us to perform this seva, and it's very rewarding. Remember to dress warmly!

Turmeric Golden Milk Recipe
How to Make Golden Milk, by Dr. Arjan Kaur
Turmeric is a golden-yellow spice originally from India. It is one of my favorite all-time, multi-talented remedies for many different ailments. It can be used as an anti-inflammatory for people suffering from arthritis, joint pain, and muscle pain. It also aids in digestion, is anti-parasitic, and anti-bacterial.

"Re-Growing" Romaine Lettuce

Did you know you can easily grow more romaine lettuce, once you have eaten all the leaves?  This is amazing! The next time you chop up a head of romaine lettuce for salad, hang on to the very bottom. The "heart" can be placed in a pan of water and with a little time, will eventually sprout a whole new head of lettuce, ready to harvest, eat, and repeat the process. Read More  and view some great photos of the re-growing process.

New Ashram Member - Sanrajpreet Rai Kaur

Sanrajpreet Rai Kaur (Nazanin Zahra Angoshtari), has just moved to Espanola and is looking forward to make it home here. Born and raised in Iran and going through a journey of diverse backgrounds, she cherishes her spiritual quest and how this quest has brought her to HGRD Sangat to integrate her life experience with the aspiration of experiencing Khalsa living.  Excerpt from the new book, "Open Your Heart: How to be a New Generation Feminine Leader"

by Tanya Paluso

 (available on Amazon)

 Quote from Chief Crazy Horse:

"I see a time in seven generations, when all the colors of mankind will gather under the Sacred Tree of Life, and the whole earth will become one circle again..., I salute the Light within your eyes where the whole Universe dwells,...for when you are at that center within you, and I am at that place within me, we shall be as one."Chief Crazy Horse, Sept 1, 1877    We are close to being 7 generations (140 years) after Chief Crazy Horse spoke this, at Paha Sapa with Sitting Bull, 4 days before he was assassinated.  (Read More by going to amazon)
