Tej Dharam Kaur - I was born in Jamaica, but grew up in Philadelphia. My children (Arishana, four and a half years old, Yahray, two and a half) and I first came to Espanola for Summer Solstice, 2012. I had been looking for a place to move to, so that we could get out of big city life and be in a more relaxed environment. After attending Solstice, I decided to move to New Mexico and arrived 3 months later. I love to follow my heart and the guidance of spirit. Read Entire Article

Yogi Bhajan - Look Out & Don't Pout
By Hari Jiwan Singh

One of our dear readers requested that I write about the following Yogi Bhajan quote:

"Destiny is granted to you by God, and fate is also given to you by God, to test you. As we were speaking, Fate said a wonderful thing to me. She said, "Yogi, count the basic steps to God."  I said, "Saram pad, karam pad, shakti pad, sahej pad, sat pad."

Thank You Letter from the Unity Spiritual Center
circle on the quad of Unity youth and sangat members
Matamandir Singh coordinated a Langar Garden work day including 50 Unity Church volunteers, most of them teens

We spent part of Saturday, March 16, with you working in your Ashram Community Garden.  It was a profound experience for myself and for our youth.  This morning, they were still discussing just how "Amazing", "Awesome" and "Friendly" you all are.  They were also "blown away" (to quote one of them) by how much we are alike.  I was personally touched by the welcome and friendliness of your community, and feel blessed to have connected on a personal level with some of you. I send you, on behalf of myself and our youth, Deepest Divine Love and respect.

Namaste from Gordon Keyler, Youth Minister of the Unity Spiritual Center of Albuquerque (PS - I am attaching a photo I took - my favorite photo of the day!)

Yogi Bhajan, compassionate smiling face

"It is gracious to be humble.  It's marvelous to be kind.  It is loving to be compassionate.  It's so human to be caring.  There is no need for big philosophies."  ~ Siri Singh Sahib Ji

Sarb Nam Kaur, working at the NM Legislature, 2013Sikh Dharma at the Legislature
by SS Sarb Nam Kaur Khalsa

I have been blessed to work for the past three years, during the annual NM Legislative Sessions, in the New Mexico House of Representatives, as the House Reader. This is a position that the Siri Singh Sahib held in very high esteem as a way to serve as citizens and have a "presence" in our state government. For many years, Mukta Kaur Khalsa (SuperHealth) held this position and created much good will for our Espanola community, along with many others who served the Governor and various VIPs. Read Entire Article

The Backpack "Food-For-Kids" Program - by Nirinjan Kaur (Bhai Daya Singh's wife and Dhyana Kaur's mataji)          Guru Simran Kaur, Sr. and the  ashram kids attending the weekly Ashram Children's Program, fill & bring 140 bags of food to two backpack Food For Kids Programelementary schools in our Espanola Community, each week.  It has been a very moving experience for me, helping bring the bags of food to the schools and seeing how the food is such a blessing for children at or below poverty level, who otherwise would not have much to eat over the weekend. Read Entire Article

The Time is Now -
By Himat Kaur

One of the largest planetary influences of April 2013 is the aspect of Saturn inconjunct Uranus (150-degree angle).  Here we have Saturn-the planet of structure, order, responsibility, stasis, crystallization, stuckness, depression-dancing an uncomfortable dance with Uranus-the planet of freedom, individuation, chaos, revolution, change, breakdown and/or breakthrough.  This dance is not an easy one.  Each of these two planets is an antidote to the other; their needs are at odds.  Saturn wants structure while Uranus wants freedom from structure.  Saturn wants us to work hard, be responsible, and enjoy the fruits of our labor.  Uranus wants to break out of any ordered approach to things, to be genius and unique, innovative and groundbreaking.  Everything about this planetary pairing in April creates discomfort like the fairy tale of the princess and the pea.  It gets our attention and calls for adjustment in order to create some stability and comfort.  Read Entire Article
