Together, We Can be Prepared
By Matamandir Singh
At Langar this Thursday, March 7th, please take a moment to read the Food Storage/Langar Garden Pledge Form that will be distributed and then consider filling it out. Our goal is to store a one-month supply of food for the ashram community by the end of March, 2013. We also want to make significant progress in enriching the Ashram Langar Garden soil, so we can begin growing our own food soon. Together, we can be PREPARED! Together, the cost will be small for each individual. Many blessings, The Emergency Preparedness COV(Ashram Core of Volunteers) To view the form now, click here |
Yogi Bhajan - Teachers are Creatures, Too By Hari Jiwan Singh
Back in the early days of our Dharma, around 40 years ago (it's hard to believe that it's been that long), the Siri Singh Sahib (Yogi Bhajan) entertained a special guest, Swami Satchidananda. Read entire article |

Farm Tour visited Guru Jiwan Singh's Greenhouses
 | Khalsa Greenhouse tomatoes |
Krishna Singh is working with the Rio Arriba County Food & Agriculture Policy Council, who sponsored a workshop recently at Northern New Mexico College. The Council's goal is to re-invigorate the farming culture in the Espanola Valley, and to support and inspire the local community to go from growing just 2 - 4% of our own food, to growing 15% of our own food, and by doing so, to enrich our local community in many ways. Part of the workshop included a tour of local farms. Guru Jiwan Singh's beautiful Khalsa Greenhouses were part of that tour. His greens and tomatoes are AWESOME! (FYI...you can purchase GJS's amazing produce every Saturday at the Santa Fe Farmers Market.) |

Langar Kitchen Garden - Wood Chips to Enrich the Soil
Dennis, our ashram's neighbor, is dumping loads of wood chips (from the Log Yard, over near Walnut Acres), to help enrich the Langar Kitchen Gardens. The wood chips will be spread out and incorporated into the current "soil enrichment" system, now in progress. He estimates it will take 2-3 years of focused effort, to upgrade the quality of our garden soil. |
Computer Corner - Cleanliness is Next to Godliness
by Guruka Singh - I've written in previous columns about cleaning the innards of a PC, but what about the exterior parts: sticky keyboards and troublesome mice? Keyboards and mice take a beating from food and drink spills, skin oils, and all manner of dirt and debris. But don't toss them out; they can be cleaned. Read entire article |
