Pavandeep Singh has lived in Santa Fe for the past 4 years.  His first contact with the Dharma was meeting Dr. Kartar Singh and Japa Kaur, his teachers at Acupuncture School.  He took Kundalini Yoga Teachers Training with Gurumeet Kaur, and now often spends weekends here in Espanola, doing Sadhana, working with the plants in Guru Jiwan Singh's greenhouse, and enjoying the company of the sangat during Sunday Langar.

Yogi Bhajan, Searching for Sugarman

By Hari Jiwan Singh

I saw a fascinating movie several days ago. It's a documentary about a man named Rodriquez, and in the story it appears that he had been cheated out of success - which could have led him to react with regret and revenge, however, he did not do that.

The Siri Singh Sahib, Yogi Bhajan, taught me not to regret anything in the past. "Why, sir, do I not want to regret anything and how do I do that?" I asked. It was on a warm August evening in 1992. I asked this question as I was walking our Master, from the N.M. Estates to the converted log cabin where he slept...

Langar Kitchen Garden - By Guru Meher Kaur Jr.

Mata Mandir Singh and many volunteers are working hard to rejuvenate the ashram garden this year with their focus on producing vegetables for our ashram langars.  They had a successful work day this last Saturday (See pictures left column.) Mata Mandir also told me they are also looking at creating a Garden Park down where the old apple orchard existed off of the ashram path leading to the Gold House. Plans include creating a permaculture with flowers, a community vegetable garden, benches and foot paths.

He is also sending out a request to sangat members to grow seedlings for this years' garden. This is not hard to do and he is willing to give you advice on how to get started and will produce a list of suggested vegetables to grow for the Langar Garden. Here's an article with simple instructions   for growing seedlings to help you get a head start.

Food for Health =Beet and Carrot Casserole

Cleanses the liver & digestive tract

2 bunches scallions, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
Ghee or vegetable oil
1 bunch beets
1 lb. carrots
Soy sauce, Braggs or Tamari
Ground black pepper
1 lb. grated cheese (dairy or non-dairy)

Directions: Scrub beets and carrots. Steam or roast beets whole. Don't cut off roots or stems. Peel carrots if desired. After about 15-20 minutes, add carrots to the beets. Steam or bake, covered, until tender but firm.  Remove outer peels from beets. Cool slightly. Grate using a coarse grater. Keep beets and carrots separate to preserve their distinct colors.

Sauté scallions and garlic in oil or ghee until tender. Add to beets and carrots with black pepper. Place in a casserole dish. Sprinkle with Soy sauce, Braggs or Tamari. Cover with grated cheese and broil until cheese is melted and golden. Serves 4-6

What does chanting the SO PURKH shabad do?

Creates a sacred space in which grace prevails, so as to allow the greatness of the soul to come forth. It was written by Guru Ram Das, whose vibration holds a state of grace and love that heals all realms of the heart and being.  According to Shakti Parwha Kaur, Yogi Bhajan spoke glowingly about the tremendous power and potential of reciting SO PURKH. He said a woman can use this shabd to beam on a man to:
-Attract the soul of a child to be born through you, who will become a man of God
-Heal a man
-Transform a man into a man of God
-Attract a man of God to be your husband
-Make God appear before you

Do 11 recitations of the 'So Purkh' shabad a day for 40 days,....and see what happens!
