On Thursday, Nov 29, Guru Simran Kaur, Sr. hosted a Humanities Class of 80 high school seniors, from Los Alamos High School. The two groups of 40 students participated in a beautiful and spirited gatka class on the lawn, led by Gurujot Singh, Guru Raj Singh and Sat Kartar Singh, toured the Gurdwara, received a lecture on Sikh History from Guru Simran Kaur, and attended Thursday Langar. | |

Food for Health - Cream of Vegetable Soup -
Super easy, vegan, low fat,....a true comfort food
(from: The McDougall Quick & Easy Cookbook)
Ingredients:
5 cups vegetable broth (try 'Imagine' brand "No-Chicken Broth")
1 onion, cut in chunks
3 cups vegetables, cut in chunks
1/2 cup rolled oats
seasonings of your choice
Combine all ingredients in a medium soup pot, bring to a boil, and simmer for 30 minutes. Puree in batches, in a food processor or blender. Serve at once & enjoy |

The Hacienda de Guru Ram Das in Sombrillo has been providing students in need, who attend the Tony E. Quintana Elementary School, with snack bags for almost four years. Guru Simran has been working with the members of the ashram to collect the funds to purchase and package up the weekly snack bags. The students look forward to receiving their snack bags. Many children come from homes of limited means and this provides one more source of sustenance. We are so grateful for the kindness and generosity of our neighbors from the Hacienda de Guru Ram Das. |
