A new bill in Topeka would dramatically change the rights of teachers unions. Kansas Policy Institute has released the results of a public opinion poll asking Kansans for their views on some issues that are currently in the news. When a poll was released earlier this month showing that 61 percent of Kansas voters opposed changing how state Supreme Court justices and Court of Appeals judges are selected, some conservatives tried to discredit the results by saying that liberal billionaire... By a slim margin, more Kansans say state government should withhold only general public union dues from employee paychecks, not a separate portion that could fund political activities, according to a new survey. Two conservative groups who have supported Gov. Sam Brownback's efforts to eliminate the state income tax made it clear today that they do not support the other tax increases he is proposing to balance the state budget.
A new statewide public opinion survey shows K-12 funding should be based on efficient use of taxpayer funds; narrow opposition to judicial reform; overwhelming support for 'paycheck protection.'
