Greetings!

I am so excited to chat with you.  How have you been?  Did you get that last project finished?  I, as usual, got distracted by some of the new fabric and still have multiple UFOs!  That's my modus operandi, apparently!  I just keep adding to the stash and having a party for myself.  I am getting ready for Easter,  we have some really cute chicken and bunny fabrics.  Pillowcases all around!

I have news to share,  we are re-arranging the store.  Moving furniture and fabric.  Customers have commented on the positive effect.  Wait till you to see it, if you haven't already.  There are also big plans in the works.   We are re-vamping the loyalty program in an effort to save it.  Don't panic, it is not going away; we need to alter some things in order to keep it solvent and up to date.  We are not changing the credit amount we are simply implementing an annual expiration date (July 31st) for point accumulation.

We are striving to change some of our old habits and make room for all the exciting new trends happening out in the sewing world.  We want to tantalize and keep you interested in the shop. Not to worry, I'll be keeping you informed.  I know how hard change can be, but I think you will come to love most of the new things we are planning.

Everyone in the store loves to help you select fabric.  That is why we are here.  Julie, our fearless leader, is offering a new service for our customer base.  She is available by appointment to be a "Fabric Consultant".    Julie loves to help customers pick fabric and you may make an appointment with her at thimblepleasures@bellsouth.net.  Otherwise, you know you can come in anytime and we will exhaust all possibilities to help you find that perfect fabric.

Little Gardener DollWe have invited doll artist, Charlie Patricolo, from Western NC to come and teach us how to make dolls! The Little Gardener is 12" standing and has poseable fingers. An internal doll stand allows her to stand. She has adorable summer clothing, little sandals, and a visor. Don't miss this wonderful opportunity to delve into a whole new craft!  Be sure to come in and see her wonderful sample doll.

Charlie Patricolo has been making dolls for more than 30 years and teaching how to make dolls for the last 15 years. Charlie gets tremendous joy simply by empowering her students to create. Her dolls can be seen in a dozen different galleries.

We are also very fortunate to have Annie Smith, the well-known podcaster, here for the summer so she can offer us her most requested class. The Quilter's Palette is a one-of-a-kind sampler quilt -- a sampler of techniques.

Making this quilt will teach you techniques that will challenge quilters of all levels. We will make blocks that use y-seam construction, appliqué, and paper piecing. All along the way, you will learn tricks of the professional quilter to make this, and future quilts, easier to make

Don't forget End-Of-Month End-Of-Bolt is this Friday and Saturday, March 29 and 30.

Happy sewing,

Diane

We are delighted to add Connie Walker to  our wonderful list of teachers.  We are  looking forward to the great
ongoing classes Connie will be offering.    Don't miss an opportunity to take a class  with a great teacher.

Connie began  quilting twenty years  ago after taking a  beginning quilting  class at her church in Salisbury, MD.  Her hobby quickly became her passion when she moved to Raleigh in 1997 and began working at a local quilt shop.  In 2001, Connie opened The Whistle Stop Quilt Shop in Selma, NC.  In 2006 the Whistle Stop was named a Top Ten shop and featured in American Patchwork and Quilting's Top Ten Quilt Shops of North America issue.

Since then Connie has designed and published numerous quilts and patterns under the name Whistle Stop Designs.  Her patterns have been featured in several quilt magazines including, American Patchwork and Quilting and Quiltmaker.  In addition, Connie also teaches and presents workshops and lectures on various techniques and topics at shops and guilds in our area.  In 2010, she moved her shop to Cary but recently made the decision to close the store to focus on her family and a new career.  In her spare time Connie continues to work on new designs and provides long arm quilting services from her home.  Connie lives in Garner with her two boys and a Basset Hound named Maggie.  To follow Connie and see more of her designs you may find her on Facebook (Connie Johnsen Walker/Whistle Stop Designs).  If you would like to reach her, feel free to email her at cjwalker305@yahoo.com.

Thank you for your continued patronage.  Our customers are our greatest asset.
Sincerely,
