A Message From Our Luncheon Chair

The 3 rd Annual Caring Community Luncheon is Tuesday, May 19! I am honored to be chairing the event with the help of my husband, Ivan Zackheim. The precedent has been set for a large, community-wide celebration. Get ready for another one.

This year's luncheon will be at the Multnomah Athletic Club near downtown with easy access and parking. Lunch will be a little different so we can meet the various dietary needs of our guests. AND, lunch will be "free" this year. Well, not exactly. Our generous sponsors will cover the costs so that 100% of every donation you make at the luncheon (or before if you can't be there) will go directly to our important JFCS programs. The luncheon is our only fundraising event. We ask that everyone attending make a gift.

Our speaker, writer/filmmaker/editor, Stephen Elliott is sure to inspire. He credits a Jewish social service agency in Chicago where he grew up with saving his life. We will tell you the heartwarming JFCS story in a video showcasing the significant work we do. We know this is a workday lunch and we value your time so our program will be short.

I love working with a talented and dedicated committee to make this our best luncheon yet. We even have a few surprises... Please plan on being there for a wonderful Celebration of Our Caring Community!

Invitations will be mailed in late March. In the meantime, if you have interest in becoming a sponsor or hosting a table, please contact our development office at [email protected] or 503 226-7079, ext 118.

Best,

Miriam Hecht

Board Member and Event Co-chair

A Special Seder For Our Special Needs Clients

On Sunday, April 5th, Kehillah Housing residents, Tikvah members, and their families will get together for a Passover Seder and dinner at Kehillah Housing. With a focus on fun, this seder will bring together adults with a variety of special needs and their families in celebration of a traditional Passover.

Kehillah Housing serves 14 adults with developmental disabilities who live independently in an apartment building operated by Cedar Sinai Park. Tikvah, the JFCS-led social-recreational group for adults with any type of disability, has been an active group for over 15 years, and has recently enjoyed collaborating in activities with the residents of Kehillah Housing.
