The Program Chair for June is Tom Warren

The ride is here! The ride is here!

Our program this week is to put the final touches on the planning for
the Century Challenge and the Cycle de Vine.  You will get all the details and
marching orders from the chairs and assistant chairs.

Do you know what your assignment is?
Does the volunteer chair have your current cell phone number?
What time do you report to your job site?
Who is the chair or assistant that you report to?
Has your spouse volunteered yet?

Be at the regular noon meeting on June 21 at Sorrento's to get all the
answers about both rides.

What?  Another new member!

This past Tuesday another member was inducted.  She is probably lowering our average age by another huge amount!  The new member is Kate Tomlinson who has managed the Riverwalk Inn for several years.  She has been sponsored by Randy Brooks.  Kate's father is a Rotarian from the midwest and he has brought Kate to our club several times as a guest.  Kate expressed an interest in joining, and Randy was efficient in proposing her by entering all the information on the form on our website.  Welcome Kate to our club.  I am sure Tiffany can use your skills for the Century Challenge.

Membership - Part 2

At the Board meeting last week two new members were proposed and approved by the Board.  This is the official posting to the club.

Mandi Dawson - Co-Owner of the Riverwalk Inn
Proposed by Randy Brooks

Jesse Simmons - Executive Director of the Historic Downtown Association
Proposed by Connie Lorenz

Volunteers Needed for Fire Damage Restoration

Kathy Littlefield, who we helped last Make-a-Difference Day, is beginning to rebuild her home up Granite Falls Creek Rd.  She is looking for volunteers to help with any or all phases of construction.  If you are interested in helping, please contact the Okanogan Long Term Recovery Case Worker, Jessica Martin at 509-846-5010, [email protected].  Randy Brooks will be installing a PV system there sometime in the near future, and will be asking for volunteers to help with that also.

We are sponsoring a Blood Drive and need Volunteers

The Board gave $50 to sponsor a blood drive at North Shore Bible Church on June 22nd. They are looking for 3 volunteers to be there from 1pm-6pm. If there is anyone that can volunteer, please have them call Tiffany. at the Chamber or email me so I can let the organizers know. Let me know if you have questions.

Why should we care?  It's just a big potato on a truck.  As a part of the Idaho Potato Commission's Promotion, the giant Tater Truck will be in Chelan June 29, 30, 2016. It will spend part of its time in Chelan outside the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce.

As a part of this visit the Giant Tater will donate $500 to the Lake Chelan Rotary Community and International Fund.  A very generous Tater.

Trivia:

  • it would take over 10,000 years to grow
  • it weighs 6 tons (12,130 pounds), equalling 32,346 medium-sized Idaho potatoes
  • it is 1,102 times heavier than the largest potato ever grown, which weighed 11 pounds.
  • it would take 2 years and 9 months to bake.
  • it would make 30,325 servings of mashed potatoes
  • it would easily make over 1,500,000 average-sized french fries

As a part of the training of our incoming President, he or she must prepare a strategic plan for our club for the year of the President.  President-Elect  Kevin Abel has prepared the plan and it has been presented to the Board of Directors.  You are invited to review the plan and if you have comments or suggestions please contact Kevin at  [email protected].  To access the plan just click on the underline Strategic Plan 2016-2017.

Were you aware that zipfizz is now a major sponsor of the 2016 Century Challenge and Cycle de Vine? Their support is with both financial help and product. They are joining Vin du Lac as our very appreciated sponsors this year.
