INTERACT GOLF @ GAMBLE SANDS

Gamble Sands is in the middle of a major expansion project.  They are building a new club house, expanding the restaurant and building a 37 room hotel.  For this reason we have been asked to postpone the Interact Golf Tournament until 2017.  This will enable us to offer accommodation, focus on getting sponsorship and have an auction and BBQ.

This years KOZI/Rotary Radiothon will once again feature the hunt for the "Golden Egg".  Clues to finding the Golden Egg will be broadcast on KOZI during the 5 days leading up to the Radiothon. The lucky person who finds the Golden Egg will win $500 in cash.

This year the Radiothon will also feature a children's egg hunt for a "Silver Egg".  This hunt will be open to children under 15 years of age.  Clues to finding the Silver Egg will also be broadcast on KOZI.  The prize will be $50 in cash plus a variety of valuable prizes.

Winners will be required to appear in person at KOZI on the day of the Radiothon.

 RADIOTHON GOES INTERNATIONAL

Would you believe it - The Lake Chelan Rotary Radiothon is now worldwide news.
2016 Lake Chelan Rotary Scholarships
Due Date:  April 15, 2015

Are you a dedicated student? Have you overcome considerable obstacles? Is the cost of going to college a financial strain on your family? No matter what your talents, abilities, or circumstances, Lake Chelan Rotary wants to help.

Lake Chelan Rotary supports scholarships through the Lake Chelan Rotary Community & International Fund ("The Fund").  "The Fund's" scholarships are given to Chelan and Manson High School seniors pursuing their dreams and goals at colleges, universities, and trade or technical schools. These scholarships are made possible through the fundraising efforts of Lake Chelan Rotary and generous donors who have a passion to provide higher education opportunities to worthy students.  Click here:

In 2014, the "The Fund" awarded $22,000 to students in Chelan and Manson High Schools.
Application Review

Every application is reviewed by members of "The Fund's" volunteer Scholarship Selection Committee. The application is reviewed first for eligibility as Lake Chelan Rotary must adhere to the specific eligibility criteria established by scholarship fund donors.  After review, scholarship applications are evaluated on an objective and competitive basis, considering academic and nonacademic factors such as financial need, leadership, community service, and special circumstances.
MANSON BUZZ-on-BIZ

The Lake Chelan Rotary presented the North Central Washington Business Loan Fund (NCWBLF) with a $300 check to supports awards for the Manson High School "Buzz on Biz" program.

Rtn. Dan Hodge and Rtn. Rich Watson accepted the check from President Jordana LaPorte.  The NCWBLF is sponsoring an Entrepreneurial Training Program at Manson High School.  Dan is working with Career Connections teacher Jenn Koth on this special training program.  All sophomore students are involved in developing a business idea.  Guest speakers cover topics including strategic planning, negotiating, marketing analysis and plans, business structure and financial reporting.

The purpose of the program is to expose students to what is needed to start a business.  The Rotary check will be used to help recognize the best student business plan presentations.

NKOILALE PRIMARY UPDATE

Our 2016 International project is progressing very well.  It is on budget and on schedule.  Here is an update from Grace Namunyak our eyes and ears on the ground. She sounds excited.  We can be proud.

"Today was the happiest day on my life. Do you know how it feels to accomplish a mission? I never knew before but now I know.  One hundred student desks, fifty chairs and 24 tables were today handed over to Nkoilale Primary School.

Three pit latrines for the girls, three pit latrines for the boys and a urinal are at their final stages of construction.

Twenty one girls and three boys are in school shaping their future.

We also installed 14 additional solar light system in the village homes, making it a total of 23 homes with solar powered lighting.

I can't thank everyone enough. One thing I am sure of, the hearts of all those kids are full of Thanksgiving.  We are grateful to you all, am humbled by you love and double inspired by your commitment.

THANK YOU, ASANTE SANA, ASHE OLENG' - Grace"
