19th Judicial Circuit Launches Mortgage Foreclosure Mediation Program 
A new program through the 19th Judicial Circuit aims to help homeowners avoid the financial and emotional devastation of foreclosure through mediation. The objective is to explore options, increase communication, and empower parties to reach a resolution that works best for them. Homeowners whose foreclosure cases were filed on or after Dec. 2, 2013 are eligible.

Lake County Reports Progress on Strategic Plan 
Lake County's strategic plan serves as a road map for county government over the next several years. The plan includes five strategic goals along with strategies and actions, as well as a set of values that influence everything the County does. Those values include: fiscal responsibility, exceptional service, leadership, and environmental stewardship. See examples of how we are adhering to those values, and making progress toward the strategic goals. 
 
Reminder: Recycling Changes Coming to Unincorporated Neighborhoods In an effort to increase recycling and extend the life of our landfills, the Lake County Board approved modifications to the Solid Waste and Recycling Ordinance effective Jan. 1, 2014. Learn more. 
 
Veterans Honored For Volunteer Hours 
The Veterans Assistance Commission of Lake County (VAC) recognized Lake County Military Veterans for 132,090 hours of volunteer service to the Lovell Federal Health Care Center and their communities. VAC Superintendent, Michael Peck, presented the Annual Governors Report and noted that the VAC mission would not be successful without volunteer support. Awards, such as the Presidential Service Award, were given to volunteers with 500 (Gold), 250 (Silver) and 100 (Bronze) hours of volunteer service. Dr. Raymond Moy, Deputy Chief Jon Petrillo and Judge John Phillips are pictured with Medal of Honor recipient Al Lynch and VAC President Norm Arnswald. 
 
Cell Phones Illegal While Driving Starting Jan. 1
A new state law, starting Jan. 1, prohibits all drivers from using hand-held cell phones while driving. Drivers are permitted to use cell phones with hands-free technology such as Bluetooth.

Lake County is a member of the Northwest Water Planning Alliance (NWPA) working to advance the recommendations and concepts identified in the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) Water 2050 plan. Its goal is to provide a sustainable water supply for this area that is both economically and environmentally sound. 

  

Lake County 2040 Transportation Plan Open House
The Lake County Division of Transportation (LCDOT) invites you to an open house informational meeting to see exhibits, displays and to meet LCDOT staff and consultants that will discuss the proposed plan and answer questions. The Lake County Year 2040 Transportation Plan will serve as the blueprint for transportation improvements for Lake County for the next two decades. The plan also includes bicycle and transit components.
