Rollins Road Gateway Informational Open House |
The Lake County Division of Transportation (LCDOT) is hosting an open house to kick-off the start of construction on the Rollins Road Gateway Project on July 31 from 5 to 7 p.m.
The open house will be held at the Cultural and Civic Center of Round Lake Beach, located at 2007 Civic Center Way in Round Lake Beach. During this meeting, Lake County will provide information about the project, the project schedule and what can be expected during the various phases of construction.
Construction is expected to begin in the next several weeks and will take about two years to complete. The Lake County Board has funded this $30.8 million improvement using funds from the ¼% Sales Tax for Transportation.
The project includes lowering the elevation of Rollins Road and IL Route 83 and building a new bridge to carry the Canadian national/Metra Railroad over the intersection. The construction will also include new traffic signals, additional turn lanes on all four legs of the intersection and shifting the location of Hainesville Road and the shopping mall entrances away from the intersection.
Rollins Road is a County Highway that currently carries 24,000 cars per day and is often congested at this location. This improvement will significantly improve travel in the area by eliminating the need for cars to be delayed at the rail crossing and by increasing the capacity, mobility and safety of the intersection.
