Hello ,
...and hello Summer! It's high time for all of those activities,
outings and travel plans that have been on the back burner to come to fruition.
And whether the plan's as extensive as a two-week
trip to Europe taking in the sights & good eats, or simply getting to the beach for more surf sessions, swims, or cycling on the boardwalk, we want to congratulate those who've been so dedicated to making their body's ready for the activities.
Our wish is always that you're able to participate in all of the fun activities and happenings that life offers, especially now as the summer invites us outdoors. And if you or someone you know is struggling to get out to enjoy due to chronic pain, let them know that they don't have to be limited! There is a better way!

The Body's Natural Design
|
Pain and dysfunction under the rigors of modern life are not a reflection of the body's inferior design. Nor are they the price we must pay for growing older, being women, jogging, swinging a golf club, or holding certain jobs. On the contrary, the body is responding in strict accordance with the logic of its own musculoskeletal heritage. What's illogical is that we ignore the body's design as we go about our daily lives and submit to medical treatment. Chronic pain is not telling us that we are frail, or that our bodies have lost the ability to cope with the physical demands of life on earth. It is warning us of danger; and the danger is acute motion starvation.
When it comes to the musculoskeletal system, we're not the ones who make the rules. All the body's organs, its bones and muscles, are already governed by a coherent, comprehensive canon of rules. We can only understand and follow them. As basic as that may sound, it is a radical proposition in light of an attitude that presupposes that medical science can substitute its own notions of how the musculoskeletal system operates. We don't need a new and improved musculoskeletal system. The old one would work just fine, if we let it.
The design of the human musculoskeletal system is universal. Rare birth defects and genetic anomalies do not even remotely account for the contemporary epidemic of chronic pain. For most people, saying "I was born this way" or "That's just the way I am" is the equivalent of saying "I was born without the need for oxygen" or "Gravity just doesn't apply to me." Only at our peril can we ignore our body's need for a full range of stimulus and response with in a vertically and horizontally maintained parallel skeletal matrix. Equally perilous is our disregard for the body's symmetrical and unitary nature. (Taken from Pain Free by Pete Egoscue)
The 8 Laws of Physical Health
1. Vertical Loading - The skeleton must be vertically aligned in it's postures.
2. Dynamic Tension - Constant tension exists between the front & back of the body.
3. Form and Function - Bones do what the muscles tell them to do.
4. Breathing - The body will not function without oxygen.
5. Motion - We are designed to move, and moving is necessary for our health.
6. Balance - Muscles are designed to work in pairs and equally on the right & left.
7. Stimulus - If motion is limited, stimulus becomes stressful to the body vs. healthy.
8. Renewal - The body is organic and in constant growth & rebirth.
*If the body is not renewing, it is because we are violating the laws of physical
health. The more laws we violate, the faster we age and die.

How does Egoscue grow?
|
People always ask us how Egoscue has continued to grow over the years since we don't advertise like other companies. It starts with treating one client at a time and our response is simply,
"You get better. Then tell your friends."
Don't let those you know live in pain any longer!
