There is a scent in the air of new growth & new beginnings, it's called Spring and what a relief the long, cold Winter is nearly over. There are new beginnings here at Cake Craft World too! We are moving premises in the middle of March and I have joined the team! I will be your resident Newsletter Editor & general Agony Aunt on all things sweet! Having been a cake designer for 20 years, cutting my teeth at the famous Jane Asher Party Cakes shop, I am fully qualified to help out with any questions you may have regarding the wonderful world of cake decorating.
Please email in to let me know what you think of the Newsletter as it is aimed at introducing you to new equipment & techniques. I will also be throwing in some competition prizes & monthly offers too! I will be featuring ideas & techniques for you to try & they will always have a relevant theme for the month.

March for me is all about David, Patrick & Mum.

March means Mother's Day and I can't think of a better reason to spoil your dear Mum! If your Mother is anything like mine she loved nothing better than when I brought home from school a home made gingerbread man with jellies for eyes. Well, just because we are adults doesn't mean we can't still make her a little gift! The cookie tea set is a lovely idea that will not cost the earth but is guaranteed to put a smile on her face!

The idea for this cake came from thinking of ways to use up all my little bits of coloured sugarpaste without having to throw away & this cake is perfect! The more colours you have the better & you could personalise it too by maybe putting Mum's favourite blouse on the top?

To achieve the wooden floor effect,
knead in gently, but not fully,
to achieve the lined effect.

I am absolutely in love with these cute baby decorations. I have used them on cupcakes to show you how many ways they can be used. As a Mummy myself, I would love to be given one of these little cupcakes as a Mother's Day gift.

*** Louise's Secret ***
I have used the same cake here but with 2 different toppers. This idea is good if you want to make a two tier cake but don't need to feed that many people. Cover & decorate a dummy cake & then you can use it on top of any cake to give the impression of a two tier cake. Then after the party, take off the topper & use the dummy again & again!
