How to Get Rid of a Ghost
For Halloween, I thought it might be fun to share some very vanilla instructions for getting rid of a ghost. Hopefully, you can simply get rid of yours by letting them take a big scoop of candy and watch them scurry off on their way.
But some of you may have a very different opinion. One of you specifically, and another five that are not sure. For you, these email serves a steps towards the light, and notification that help is closer than you realize.
The Basics of Ghost Busting
Ghosts, spirits, poltergeists - these are all terms used to refer to the same thing: a haunting. Sometimes the haunted location is a home, other times in can be a place of business or even an outdoor geographic location. One thing is for sure though. These presences are usually not wanted and can often be a source of great fear and trauma.
Why spirits stick around is not answered by one cause or reason though. Most often, the "ghost" is a soul, disembarked from its physical body, but still retaining its personality and objectives. So if there is unfinished business or great unresolved emotion, the soul of the deceased may be likely to stick around.
Aside from human souls, there are also otherworldly energies and entities. These may have very non-human objectives and immense energy and "power." Normally these entities are either of positive or negative alliance and can be identified as either good, bad, or in some rare cases, indifferent instantaneously.
If you are reading this and are having concerns over a presence, it is important to remember a few things, as chaotic and stressful as the situation may be.
- First, just know that you do have great control over these unwanted entities.
- And second, in gaining that control and issuing an other-world eviction notice, knowing the reasons for which the entity is hanging around is certainly a big advantage, but not always of complete necessity.
Methods for ridding an area of unwanted ghosts vary greatly. All across the world there are different methods and beliefs on the subject. But many do come to agreement on some of the concepts involved. Regardless of their cultural roots, here are some "traditional" methods of spirit removal used for generations throughout North America.
1. Get a Blessing
When a dwelling is blessed, there is typically a religious leader, preacher, priest, priestess, or other ordained individual performing the blessing. They may simply use a series of gestures, prayers, or invocations. In other cases they may use additional religious or spiritual items such as holy water or figurines.
The basic intention though is to "bless" or make it a holy, positive area, free of negativity or unwanted presences. If you would go about blessing yourself without outside help, it is important you be of strong spiritual energy, belief, ability, and so on.
2. Exorcism
In many cultures and belief systems, exorcism is the go-to option. Exorcism is much like blessing in that a qualified person of religious or spiritual background should perform the ceremony. But unlike a blessing, exorcisms are much more pointed and direct, acting as a direct spiritual commandment to leave the area and never come back. Exorcisms can be very effective, but if not effective they can make matters worse because of their more direct or pointed nature.
3. Simple Communication
A surprise to many people is that you can directly communicate with a problem ghost. In many instances of unwanted guests, home or business owners have been able to reason with or offer help so as to appease the spirit's goal and move it on. Many extraordinary communications, property discoveries, and other solution-rendering events have taken place when people have taken the time to simply communicate and listen. Sound familiar?
4. Use or Placement of Ritual-Items
Some very interesting yet often effective methods of ritual-item use have shown success for many people. Gemstones are often strategically placed for protection. Pennies placed in the four corners of a room show deterrent value in some cases as well as sea salt and Religious statues. Others have sworn great success through far-eastern methods involving mirror and furnishing placement. When combined with the human spirit, will, and belief, items such as these have helped many people.
5. Ritual and Seance
Finally, we come to seances and other such rituals. The sky is certainly the limit when we take a look at the variety of rituals that can be performed. Many of the above-mentioned elements do take place in these rituals, and at the very least, some level of communication of will. The nature, intent, and methods of these can be of any concern, but beware, a ritual performed without proper know-how and spiritual strength can lead to even worse circumstances than originally experienced.
These are just 5 of the most traditional and popular methods used to rid an area of unwanted activity. If you are experiencing unwanted activity, take a chance to review your options. Remember that if one method fails, there are many others to be enlisted.
Most importantly, if your unwanted presence does have negative effects on your life and you family's, you should take action because there is the very real propensity for these entities to really drag down your energy and emotional state, whether intentionally or not.
