Cognex Logo - Black SurfaceView Technology

Solving difficult applications by differentiating between shape and shading

SurfaceView, is an algorithm which highlights surface features regardless of whether they are engraved, etched, embossed, dented, punctured, stamped, or raised. Once contrast is created in the image, Cognex's industry leading vision tools (OCRMax, PatMax RedLine, Blobs, InspectEdge, etc.) can easily inspect the part.

SurfaceVIew utilizes a 4-segment quadrant controlled light and a Cognex IS8000 or IS5705 Series camera.  It uses reflections and shadows from the different angled lights to determine the surface structure.  The Cognex algorithm combines images from different light sources to create the resulting image.

UNO-1252G Palm-size Gateway Solution

Smallest Industrial IoT Gateway for Cloud Applications

Gateway computers are useful because they help to connect legacy devices to the Internet of Things (IoT) without needing to replace the entire infrastructure.

The smallest Industrial computer from Advantech has been designed to act as a gateway for industrial applications. As small as a micro PLC, the UNO-1252G is only 10cm high and the DIN-rail mountable UNO-1252G comes with the new low power consuming Intel Quark processor which will only use 10 watts whilst being powerful enough to perform data transmission and sensing function in IoT gateway applications

Dorner logo Dorner FlexMove 180 Conveyors

Unique case handling application highlights

Dorner recently worked with a customer who needed to take a case and flip it 180 within a short distance.  The case was slightly bulky at about 1' x 1' x 10".  The customer wanted a way to positively control the product as it rotated.

Dorner tackled the challenge using a 180mm wide SmartFlex with FlexMove Technology. The platforms flexibility in the frame of the conveyor enabled it to be twisted over a distance.  Two of these conveyors were used per 90 of rotation.

One conveyor started as the bottom conveying surface and gradually twisted perpendicular to the new conveying surface.  The other conveyor started perpendicular and gradually twisted to become the bottom conveying surface.
