BATTLE OF BLOUNTVILLE PARK DESIGN TO BE UNVEILED

The Battle of Blountville Civil War Military Park Executive Committee announced that the design concepts for the park will be released at 10 AM on Friday, December 5, 2014, in the 2nd Floor Commission Room at the Sullivan County Courthouse.  The park landscape architects, Mr. Kenneth Soergel, ASLA, and Ms. Cathy Marshall, will be conducting the presentation. 

 

Kenneth Soergel, ASLA, received an MLA in landscape architecture from Harvard University Graduate School of Design.  He has designed significantly large-scale parks and developments across the U.S.  Some of his previous work has included design of the Rosewood Plan, a 300-acre development in Zelienople, PA; design of Birchfield Community, a 500-acre development in Mount Laurel, NJ; and design of the Windmill Center for Kamstra, Abrash, Dickerson & Associates, AIA, at Loudoun County, Virginia. 

 

Cathy Marshall, Associate Professor of Landscape Architecture at LSU, also has an MLA in landscape architecture from Harvard University Graduate School of Design. Her previous work includes designing the Battle of New Orleans Memorial for the National Park Service; design of UNSECO World Heritage Site Poverty Point in LA; and design of DeSoto Mississippi Riverfront Park at Baton Rouge.  Her prints have been exhibited at galleries in New York City, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., San Jose, and other cities across the U.S.
