"Save the Inn" Fundraiser
The Old Deery Inn at Blountville, TN
BLOUNTVILLE, TENN. - On Tues., May 13, 2014, TN State Rep. Tim Hill, in conjunction with the Sullivan County Historical Preservation Association, will host a "Save the Inn" Fundraiser from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Old Deery Inn in Blountville, TN. Hors d'oeuvres will be served, and classical music will be provided inside the Inn by pianist, Olivia Hancock. Bluegrass and period music will be provided outside the Inn by the Eclectic Cats, Jim Graybeal, Tony Malone and Jack Dunham.
Over the past year, the Old Deery Inn has suffered extensive water damage in various parts of the historic building. According to structural engineers, estimates to repair the water damage could be as high as $20,000. Although the Inn is owned by Sullivan County, there is currently no funding available to subsidize the extensive repairs. The goal of the Sullivan County Historical Preservation Association is to raise $20,000 to defray costs of the repairs and to raise public awareness of the importance of saving the county's oldest buildings.
Reservations are required by May 6, with a minimum donation of $25 per person. For reservations, please contact Dennis Houser at (423) 366-7914 or email dkhouser410@btes.tv.
