Come celebrate the joy of Christmas this week at Historic Blountville!  Festivities will begin on Thursday with the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting set for 6 p.m. at the Sullivan County Courthouse in downtown Blountville.  Following the Tree Lighting, the Blountville Middle School choir, under the direction of Darren Malcolm, will present a delightful program of Christmas carols and other seasonal music. And guess who will be on hand?  You got it!  Santa will be on hand in the County Commission room to greet the children with stuffed animals, cookies and hot chocolate!

On Saturday, the Blountville Ruritan Club will host its annual Christmas Parade at 2 p.m. on Sat., Dec. 14, on the main street (Hwy. 126) in downtown Blountville.  Parade participants are asked to line up at Oak St around 1 p.m.  One of the best, the Blountville Christmas Parade continues to grow each year. Here's the lineup for this week:

  • Thursday, 6:00 p.m., Christmas Tree Lighting by Mayor Steve Godsey
  • Thursday, 6:10 p.m., Blountville Middle School Choir, Christmas program
  • Thursday, 6:30 p.m., Santa Reception for children
