BLOUNTVILLE HISTORIAN PUBLISHES NEW BOOK
Sullivan County Department of Archives and Tourism
From the Green Meadow

You can't live in Blountville and not know Harold Barr. An icon in Sullivan and a consummate genealogist, Harold is the "go-to" person for the history of Blountville, and for all of Sullivan County for that matter.

His most recent accomplishment is the publication of his family genealogy, an exhaustive study which weaves the branches of his family tree backward in time to Colonial days and beyond. His new book, From the Green Meadows, begins with his research on the lineages of his parents, Clarence W. Barr and Mellye Faust. In addition to the Barr and Faust families, his work defines the Anderson, Susong, Akard and other related families, many of whom reside in Sullivan County today. Diligently tracing each of his lineages to the earliest known progenitor, Mr. Barr subsequently chronicled several generations of descendants for each of the patriarchs. The book provides a unique perspective on twentieth-century American history. Containing autobiography, correspondence during wartime,  and a rich array of studies from the author's perspective, this volume is a unique offering for people connected to the Barr-Faust family, genealogists, and readers of memoir.
