We are proud to announce another event by the Ortho Pro Academy on October 10th. (Please RSVP by October 8th.)

Where: Ortho Pro Associates, 9150 SW 87 Avenue, Suite B-100, Miami, FL

When: 9 am - 4 pm (Lunch will be provided.)

Who should attend:
Any unilateral or bilateral Above Knee amputee interested in experiencing microprocessor knee technology, amputees currently wearing a CLeg or Genium microprocessor knee and medical professionals providing therapeutic training to amputees who are wearing CLeg and Genium systems. 

We will have the newest CLeg model available for test drive. At this time, the Genium is primarily being covered by the VA and Worker's Compensation,or on a self pay basis, but we will also have a Genium available for test drive for individuals interested as well.

We are thrilled to have Robert Jordan back again for this event to instruct the program and share his knowledge and personal experience with us.

Research Participants Wanted!  


Ortho Pro announces our joint research project with Florida International University's (FIU) Department of Biomedical Engineering which is supported by the Defense Advanced Reseach Projects Agency (DARPA).  The  purpose of this study is to gather new knowledge about the functioning of the nerves in the residual upper arm (stump) of amputees and to determine if it is possible to record useful information from those nerves over an extended timeframe (6 months). If successful, this study will form the foundation for future work directed at developing systems that use these neural signals to provide amputees with the ability to easily and effectively control advanced prosthetic limbs.

Paralympic Medal Count 


After Day 5 of competition in the 2012 Paralympic Games China continued its staggering lead in both total medals and gold medals. Great Britain for now remained securely in second place in total and gold, while Russia tied Australia for third place in gold medals and replaced Australia for third in the total medal standings.

The United States ended Day 5 in sixth place in the total medal and gold medal standings.

 

Despite extensive coverage of the Olympics Games earlier in late July and early August, in the United States NBC is showing very little coverage of the 2012 Paralympics, though more than has been shown in previous years.

According to denverpost.com NBC will air highlight shows on September 4, 5, 6, and 11 at 7:00 pm EDT on NBC Sports Network and a final 90 minute special on the 2012 Paralympic Games on NBC on September 16 at 2:00 pm EDT.

The London 2012 Paralympic Games opened on Wednesday, August 29; the end of competition and the closing ceremony will occur on Sunday, September 9, 2012.
