Thanks to all of our supporters of every kind for making 2015 another successful year for GALT. In 2015, 111 hounds joined the GALT family. Farms, breeders and kennels relinquished 46 of these hounds directly to GALT, including ten hounds with broken legs. GALT rescued eight dogs from two different cruelty seizures including Bowie and Crockett via the The Humane Society of Tulsa and brothers Atlas and Zeppelin via Austin Animal Control. GALT took in an additional three hounds from municipal shelters and 22 strays (many with significant medical issues). Another 32 hounds, such as recent arrival Ava, came from families who, for whatever reason, could no longer provide them a home. Welcome to these sweet hounds and thanks to everyone who helped get them to GALT! 

And GALT found forever homes for 143 hounds in 2015! Congrats to these hounds and their forever families! Just in December alone, more than a dozen hounds will go home including Jenny, Wick, Tessa, Pacer, Dash, Fleet, Luke, Pogo, Duke, Angelo, Clever, Dobby and Peanut. That leaves GALT with about 16 available hounds, three hounds in Training Camp, and seven hounds on Injured Reserve. We are, therefore, well positioned to assist with any displaced greyhounds from the Gulf Greyhound Park, if necessary.   

In addition to managing the hounds, GALT volunteers helped host 17 major fundraising events

including the 2015 Greyt Retired Athletes Dinner & Auction, the 10th Anniversary Cooking for the Hounds at The Mercury, the Greyt Golf Tournament, and GALT's 14th Birthday Bash. Volunteers didn't miss a beat keeping more than 100 weekly Meet and Greets staffed with humans and hounds and supporting numerous other local events benefiting the hounds. Our sincere thanks to our volunteers who devote countless hours to all of these events and to fostering, transporting, walking, bathing the GALT hounds. Thanks also to our behind the scenes volunteers who take care of all the paperwork, accounting, data entry, website updates, GreytStore management, and social media management necessary to make GALT all that it is.

GALT's medical and ongoing greyhound care expenses for 2015 were over $229,000, and we anticipate 2016's expenses to be about the same. Please consider supporting GALT financially to help with these expenses by joining GALT as member for 2016. You still have a little time for a 2016 membership or other donation to be tax deductible for 2015. Greyt things are coming in 2016 including the 2016 Greyt Athletes Dinner and Auction and GALT's 15th birthday party! We looking forward to sharing it all with you!
