Week of September 14, 2015

Dear ,

Sometimes we bring you news and we're not really sure how the story will end.  We hope and hope for big greyhound smiles and journeys to forever homes.  Today, our hopes are answered.  We have four stories about hounds with happy progress reports whose amazing transformations will take them home!

Delly's Transformation
First up, Delly!  Remember when this sweet little thing came to GALT in July? A good Samaritan found her on a front lawn with a lame leg and clouded eyes.  She couldn't walk and FWACC had to carry her.  She tested positive for Ehrlichia Canis and intestinal parasites.  An old break appears to be causing her to be lame.  When we first shared her story, we didn't know if she would recover.  She needed another chance, and GALT gave it to her!  In foster care, her eyes quickly cleared and she gained much needed weight!  Now, as soon as her Ehrlichia Canis resolves, she is on her way home!  Watch her transform into the beautiful girl she is today.  She is really making the best of her second chance!

Trooper's Transformation
Next, along came Trooper.  A Tarrant County Sheriff Deputy found Trooper as a stray and took him to the Humane Society of North Texas.  The Humane Society contacted us and we arranged to pick him up in a few days.  But, Trooper took a horrible turn for the worse and the Humane Society thought they would have to send him across the bridge.  Miraculously, just in time, Trooper rallied and, we were able to bring him to the GALT family as scheduled!  Read the details of Trooper's dramatic arrival here.  Trooper is still recovering from a severe fungal infection all over his body and Ehrlichia Canis, but he is feeling so much better now.  He is in foster care, learning the ropes of home life with human and greyhound siblings.  As soon as he recovers from his Ehrlichia Canis, he will be ready for a forever home!  Watch his story unfold!

Peanut's Transformation
Peanut joined the GALT family shortly after Trooper. Peanut has the same fungal infection and Ehrlichia Canis and likely came from the same source as Trooper.  After many medicated baths and much TLC, Peanut recently moved to his first foster home!  Watch him transition from pathetic and sad to just gorgeous!  GALT's Miss Mesa Fund pays for the medical care for these hounds and made these transformations possible.  Read more about this fund and contribute today:

Finally, we have news to share about sweet Greg.  Greg came to GALT as an extremely shy ex-racer.
Greg's Transformation
Greg's Transformation
When he first arrived at his foster home, he spent much of his time hiding in the bathroom. His foster family gave him a bed in the bathroom and patiently earned his trust.  Over the months, Greg came out of his shell, out of the bathroom, and blossomed into a cute, fun boy.  He is now ready for his forever home! His foster mommy is so proud of his progress that she created a Flipagram to show his transformation.  Greg recently moved to a new foster home, with the idea he will stay as a forever dog if his sensitive self can make the adjustment. Paws crossed!

Foster families play a key role in transforming hounds from all circumstances into the wonderful forever friends for lucky families.  If you would like to give it a try, please fill out our on-line application today:
