It's that time of year again - when we strut our stuff for the GALT greyhounds in the Best Friends Strut
Your Mutt Walk! You can strut anywhere - in your neighborhood, at the gym or even by just kicking back on your couch if that is your strut style. You don't need a greyhound or a mutt to strut; you don't even need a dog!
The GALT Central Texas representatives will be stepping out to participate in the walk this year in Austin on September 19th at 8:00 a.m., at Mueller Lake Park, 4550 Mueller Boulevard. If you would like to show your support in person, please register as a team member at the link below and email us at info@galtx.org so that we know to expect you.
If you can't be there in person, you can still participate! One way you can help is to join the GALT team and help raise funds as a team member. You can do it all on line with Best Friend's resources. Registration is only $30! Every registration comes with one free bandanna for your pup (or you). Additional bandanas only cost $5. You can set your own fundraising goal. And you can walk wherever, whenever for any distance you like, even just from the TV to the refrigerator!
Alternatively, you can support the GALT team by making an easy, one time on-line donation to an existing team member. It doesn't get easier than that! All donations are tax-deductible and all the money raised will go to help GALT's greyhounds (less a small processing fee we have to pay of course). PHOTO OF THE WEEK
Each week, space permitting, we hope to bring you our pick of the great hound photos shared on GALT's social media. This week we have selected a photo of Nick and his mommy, shortly after Nick's recent adoption. Nick, aka Saint Nick, came to GALT as a 6-week old puppy with three of his littermates. They came from the same residence as the Baytown Nine puppies. These two look good together. Another happy ending and new beginning....

IT'S "ROCK TO THE RESCUE" - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Styx's charity, Rock the Rescue, selected GALT to be the beneficiary for their upcoming Dallas concert. The concert is on Friday, August 21st at GEXA Energy Pavilion in Dallas. In addition to Styx, Def Leppard and Tesla will be performing! GALT needs several volunteers to sell raffle tickets for a guitar autographed by Styx! We will also need help managing the GALT info table.
Volunteers get FREE standing room access to the concert! (Sorry, parking not included.) Volunteers need to have a cohesive look though - so please plan to purchase the official GALT volunteer t-shirt prior to the event. This shirt will be the on-going "uniform" for all upcoming events of this type and is available in the Greyt Store. Use coupon code "Alliance" to save $5!

THE FWACC 11 FIFTH RESCUVERSARY!
On August 10, 2010, GALT forwarded to FWACC information
regarding a Fort Worth address reported to have greyhounds in the back yard. The next day, FWACC Investigators found 11 greyhounds (4 tattooed, 1 untattooed, 2 greyhound/salukis and 4 puppies) at the address. The dogs were turned over to FWACC and picked up by GALT on August 12. Other groups took three of the greyhounds, two of the puppies and one of the greyhound/salukis. Jitterbug, Sweet Pea, Red and two puppies joined the GALT family and found forever homes. Less than a year later, Stephie joined GALT from the same address. Ultimately, the property owner was arrested and prosecuted. Please join us in wishing these pups the happiest of rescuversaries!
