Week of April 27, 2015

Over the last few months, GALT has been quietly taking over the social media air waves and is now virtually everywhere.  At least, we hope we are everywhere you want to follow us.  Social media continues to be critical to spreading the word about our mission to turn no grey away.  And you can help.  Take a moment to read below about how to find GALT and then help spread the word about greyhound adoption in your networks.  It's fun and easy.

Facebook:  We are "Greyhound Adoption League of Texas, Inc." on Facebook.  Facebook makes it really hard for you to see all of the wonderful hound pictures we share.  But you can do a few things to see more.  Make sure the "Like" button on GALT's page says "Liked." Then, click on the "Liked" button to see the drop down menu. Click on "Follow" to make sure at least some of GALT's posts will be included in your news feed. Click "Get Notifications" to receive a notification each time GALT posts. And then click "Add to Interest List" to create a greyhound related feed. Also consider setting your news feed to "Most Recent" instead of "Top Stories" so that you see newer posts at the top of your feed. You can also subscribe to GALT's events feed on the Events tab.  Finally, to make sure you don't miss a cute greyhound post or breaking story, visit the GALT page daily.  One of the most helpful things you can do for the hounds on Facebook is share a post or two on your own Timeline.

Instagram :  We are "Greyhound_Adoption_League" on Instagram.  Follow us and then let your friends know about greyhounds by tagging them in a comment using the @ symbol in front of their Instagram name.  You can share GALT posts to all of your followers using free reposting apps such as "Repost."

Twitter:  We are "@GaltxOrg" on Twitter.  Be sure to "follow" us to see GALT tweets.  Then "retweet" and "favorite" your GALT tweets to spread the word.  Include @GaltxOrg in your tweets to let us know you're there.

Pinterest:  We are "Greyhound Adoption League of Texas, Inc." on Pinterest and have several boards for you to follow, including hounds in forever homes, adoption announcements and holiday hounds.  Please follow all of our boards and then "repin" all of your favorite pins!

Google+:  GALT's primary Google+ account is GALTGreyhound, but you want to follow our page, which is where all the action is at.  Search for "Greyhound Adoption League of Texas" and you'll find us.  Share your favorite posts in a greyhound group or to your extended circles to spread the word.

LinkedIn: You'll find the GALT company page under "Greyhound Adoption League of Texas, Inc. (GALT)."  Follow us and share our posts with your connections to help GALT make more connections.

YouTube:  Search for "Greyhound Adoption League of Texas" to find our channel on YouTube. Be sure to "subscribe" so you don't miss a single cute greyhound video.  Then, help promote greyhounds by sharing your favorite videos using the share link.  YouTube supports shares to almost all social media networks.

Tumblr:  We are GALTX on Tumblr and "reblogging" is what Tumblr is all about. So please follow our blog and then reblog away!  If you search #galtxenews you'll find some of our prior eNews stories on Tumblr.

Flickr:  Look for us at GALT Greyhounds on Flickr.  Follow us, "fave" some of our shots, and maybe write a short testimonial.

If you're somewhere else and want to follow us there, let us know.  And of course, let us know what you would like to see out there.  You can email us photos for sharing at Each share, reblog, retweet and repin counts!

RZ Red Tide, aka Red, Tide, Tidy Bear, and Bear; was born on January 1, 2002. His sire was Molotov and his dam was Sassie Sally Lee. Tide raced at Gulf and Corpus Christi, retiring to his birthplace after injuries ended his career. Everyone fell in love with the Tide Bear. The grandchildren of his trainer in Corpus would sneak into Tide's crate to sleep with him. Those children were responsible for Tide gaining weight as they would give him extra cookies. Tide was my lover boy on the farm. He also loved to play tricks on the younger pups - his favorite was to bark until all the young pups raced down the runs to see "what was up." Tide would then turn around and go back to bed. Red Tide was a very special and beautiful boy. He is greatly missed.
