For the second year, GALT held its Greyt Athletes Dinner and Auction fundraiser at the III Forks Restaurant. III Forks' stellar food and service paired well with the star power of our special guest, former Dallas Cowboy great Jay Novacek.  Brady Tinker, creator and host of DFW Sports Beat, and Burton Gilliam of "Blazing Saddles" fame served as emcees. GALT also recognized Major League Baseball players Jack Lazorko, Mike Phillips, Mike Bacsik, John Knox, and Bump Wills along with Chuck Greenberg of the Frisco RoughRiders!

We held Live and Silent Auctions to raise funds for GALT's ever-present medical, boarding and operating expenses. Many thanks to our generous donors and bidders!  Several of our attendees purchased new GALT memberships or upgraded their current memberships at the event. We also held a special members-only raffle, and Lisa Bengelsdorf won!

In addition to the donors, bidders, members, other attendees and our dedicated volunteers, our deepest thanks go out to our terrific sponsors who helped make the event possible:

  • VCA Preston Park Animal Hospital
  • Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center
  • Helen Manning
  • Animal Dermatology Referral Center
  • Nicole and Mike Nixon
  • Southwest Art Gallery
  • Canine Pawsitive Touch
  • Top Paw Resort
  • John Hudson Photography and
  • Shawn Fernandez Media Works

Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a huge success and to the greyt team of supporters who join us in meeting our mission of "No Grey Turned Away."™ If you missed the fun this year, come out next year and join the party to support the hounds!

"Wine Down the Winter" Yappy Hour - March 22nd

Say hello to Spring with a wine tasting at Kent and Company! This dog friendly event allows you to enjoy two glasses of wine or craft beer from a predetermined menu which also includes a personal artisan cheese board while supporting the GALT greys. This is not a formal tasting, so stop in anytime between 3-7pm. Additional glasses are available for purchase, or, if you decide a bottle is in order (either to go or to be consumed on premises) Kent and Co. will donate 10% of that purchase to GALT. Make additional donations and try and win a prize at the same time by buying a plastic Easter egg. Open the egg to see if you've won a Bissell Power fresh hard floor cleaner, Dolce Gambino calendar, Gourmet Olive Oil basket, Bottle of Wine, Logan's Secret autographed book, Spa gift certificate and more. Eggs are $5 each and you can buy as many as you like. Each dog in attendance will receive a custom Kent and Company bandana (and may appear on the K & C Facebook page).

HONORED HOUNDS OF THE WEEK - CLOVER AND ZINNY

We have the unique pleasure that few greyhound adopters will ever have - our two greyhounds are mother &
Clover and Zinny
daughter!  We adopted Clover at four months old from GALT. She was one of Zinnia's pups from GALT's third family. Her foster Mom nicknamed her "Clever Clover" because she was very smart even as a pup. She has definitely lived up to that name. She has the cutest overbite, and while curious & active, she loves to cuddle. Her Mom, Zinnia, came to us a few years later as a foster. After a few days, we knew she was part of our family and adopted her too. Zinny is our 70 pound lap dog and purrs when you rub her ears!

GALT is the BEST Greyhound adoption group - generous in providing the necessary health care and finding loving homes for the greyhounds that cross their path. Zinnia was taken in as a pregnant stray. How lucky was she (& Peter & I) that GALT took her in and cared for her and her pups.  A million thanks!
