THE BAYTOWN 9 PUPS HAVE ARRIVED!

Rumors had been heard that puppies were going to be released to a shelter in the Baytown area. Once confirmation was received locally and from as far away as Vermont (via Neil Brogan), GALT made contact to get these puppies into a safe and healthy environment. Many thanks go to the local rescuer, Aleisha Myers Medley, who worked night and day to get the puppies to safety.

There are now a total of 9 new puppies in GALT's custody. Four are just 5 weeks old and are in foster homes in pairs (Aqua Brown and Orange Yellow). The other five are 4 months old and are also in foster homes (Lime Green is in one home, Red and Blue are together, as are Purple and Dark Green).

Neil has written an amazing chronicle of this group effort that spanned the country. You can read it hereGALT can only echo Neil's words regarding this effort - "Spoken like a true dog lover. Thank you Aliesha - for caring, and for sharing."

Once plans were in place for Stew Brenner and John McQuade to meet Aliesha to pick up the pups, foster homes were put into action with Juliet and Jamie Kopacki, Jennifer and David Vilches, Lin Grado, Madelyn Martin and Todd Hayes and Ellie and Stew Brenner stepping up to help.  The pups arrived at VCA Preston Park Animal Hospital at 1:30 on Saturday, the 12th.  The staff assisting Dr. Aaron Wages worked until 4pm processing and evaluating the pups.  All the pups were infested with multiple parasites, and treatment has started for all.  Many volunteers showed up to help bathe these little cuties and then off they went to their respective foster homes!

If this is not the epitome of "It Takes A Village", we don't know what is - this is a true testament to the power of GALT's dedicated volunteers and FaceBook!

You can bid on the opportunity to name a puppy or other fabulous items in our online auction that ends on Sunday at 9pm Central - all proceeds go to the greyhounds. Donations are also welcome and necessary!

GALT 2nd ANNUAL SUMMER AUCTION

Talk about an auction with something for everyone - this auction has jewelry, art, home accessories, dog toys (did we mention a Honktapus?), a Coach purse, a life jacket for your boating hound, collars, dog socks, books, apparel, stationary, and something about a monkey. YOU have to go look at it to figure out what that monkey is all about.

While you are perusing the goods, BID ON THEM! You probably need them and have been denying yourself for awhile now, but since this auction is for a good cause, and the money raised will go to help the GALT hounds, this is a good time to indulge. We can lead a horse to water but we can't make him drink - it is ALL UP TO YOU TO BID HIGH AND OFTEN. And yes, we just compared you to a horse, metaphorically of course. Hurry up, because it ends this Sunday July 20th. You won't want to miss this! Hounds are counting on you.

Check out the Auction here!

STRUT YOUR MUTT

Strutt Your Mutt logo

It's that time of year again - when we strut our stuff for the GALT greyhounds. The best part is that you can strut anywhere - in your neighborhood, at the gym or even by just kicking back on your couch if that is your preferred style. You don't need a greyhound to strut; you don't even need a dog! The Central Texas GALT representatives will be stepping out this year in Austin on September 13th in the Best Friends Strut Your Mutt Walk and need our support. If you're interested in participating in the actual walk in Austin, please contact us for more details. We can, of course, be with them in spirit, Please join us for this fun-filled event either by registering for our team to raise funds or by donating to one of our existing team members. Your donation is tax-deductible and all the money raised will go to help GALT's greyhounds. Together, and through your support, we can live up to our standard of "No Grey Turned Away!"

To donate via CASH or CHECK instead of CREDIT CARD, please make the check out to Greyhound Adoption League of Texas or enclose a note with the cash and send to:
