It's time for our 8th annual Cooking for the Hounds at The Mercury! And, NEW THIS YEAR is an optional wine pairing with each course! Calais Winery will be providing the tastings. - see below!
Get ready for an afternoon full of food, drinks & a silent auction at The Mercury, 11909 Preston Road, Dallas, on Saturday, October 19th from 2-5pm!
We are honored to once again have the culinary skills of Executive Chef Chris Ward of The Mercury cooking for GALT!
- Chef Ward will demonstrate the following favorite recipes:
- Appetizer - Kobe Beef Tataki with Toasted Sesame Seeds and Ponzu Sauce
- Vegetable - Tomato Vegetable Risotto
- Main course - Shrimp Creole
- Dessert - Crepe Suzette
- Wine pairings will be:
Appetizer - 2011 Cuvee du Manoir - Tempranillo (Texas High Plains, Newsom Vineyards). Dark cherries, spices, cigar box, chewy tannins and long finish.
Vegetable/Main Course - 2012 Cuvee Principale - Roussanne (Texas High Plains, Barrel Fermented) Pear, Black tea, Honey, Minerality and long complex finish. Dessert - 2010 Cuvee des Marrons - Red Dessert Wine ("Port Style", fortified, 375ml) Dark cherries, cocoa powder, long nutty finish
One Drink Ticket is included in your ticket price for your choice of red or white wine or a Greyhound drink and additional beverages can be purchased at the cash bar. Please note the wine pairing will be a generous tasting pour for each of the 3 wines described above for an additonal $20.
- A silent auction will take place during the event. Items include spa and restaurant certificates, decorative items, jewelry, items for your dog, and much more...
- VIPs will receive premium seating at the cooking bar and a special gift!

GALT has once again been invited to participate in the Great Rescue Roundup at the Ft. Worth Stockyards Station Lawn! The fun will be non-stop with a fun 5K run, pet costume contest at 1:00pm, food, shopping with vendors and raffle tickets for sale with wonderful basket prizes! Stop by to see the GALT greyhounds at our booth!

Henderson hangout The Gin Mill and GALT pair-up on the patio for an all-breed "Yappy Hour" Saturday, October 26, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Bring your well-behaved, people and dog-friendly, leashed pooches to the patio for an afternoon of libations and fun benefiting GALT. Cost is $10 per person and includes your first brew of local draught rotators and $5 Greyhound drinks. Full menu is available and tickets will be available at the door. Be sure to dress up your dog for the Halloween costume contest too!

Awesome, aka SOS Awesome, is a 2-year-old black male born June 1, 2011. His sire is Trent Lee and his dam is KB's Extra Fast. Awesome has 35 races on record on greyhound-data.com, all at Gulf Greyhound Park. He started his career on December 19, 2012 and finished it on June 8, 2013 by winning a stakes race.
Pumpkin, aka Younkin, is a 3-year-old red female born May 12, 2010. Her sire is Flare Gun and her dam is Blue Notes. Pumpkin has 47 races on record on greyhound-data.com, all at the Southland track in Arkansas. She started her career on December 26, 2011 and finished it on March 29, 2013.
Reba, aka My Rebate, is a 5-year-old red female born May 6, 2008. Her sire is Dodgem By Design and her dam is B's Just Do It. Reba has 179 races on record on greyhound-data.com, starting at Wheeling Downs on February 21, 2010, moving to Southland on September 22, 2010, and then one more move to Gulf Greyhound Park on December 2, 2011. She finished her career there on September 25, 2013.
Delilah is an approximately 2-year-old female saluki/greyhound mix. Delilah and Tucker were surrendered to GALT by an owner who could not take care of them due to the owner's medical issues.
